bottle. Pale golden with one finger head. It’s exactly what’s described - a pilsner with peppercorns, but at the same time, this is really unique and interesting. I can’t decide if it works, which probably means it does by default. Spicy, but no heat. Not sure how this relates to Chinese food, but I’ll take their word for it.

12-oz. Pours a crystal clear pale gold with a loose and sudsy white head. Nose is light enough to let the full tanginess of the peppercorns come through, not just a spicy note. Creamy light body with soft and lively carb. Tangy sweet/sour peppery mid palate. Not unpleasant, and probably works as intended as a change of pace to pair with chinese food and whatnot. But not that amazing on its own merits.

Aroma - ginger and spices. Appearance - slightly hazed maize yellow. White head is about 1 3/4", and settles slowly. Great sudsy lacing. Taste - ginger, peppercorns, wheat, and some spice. Palate - between light and medium, carbonation is average, the finish has ginger and slight bitter.

Bottle. Poured a hazy golden color with an average to large frothy white head that was lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate complex lemongrass aroma. Medium body with a dry slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate green peppercorn bittersweet flavor with with a moderate bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a complex beer.

11.2oz bottle, purchased last week from Cappy’s, for $5.49. Under the price sticker, cap reads 04/06/17. Pours a hazy golden orange color, with a big white head. Leaves some frothy lace. Peppery nose. Wait, is this a spiced pils? Damn, it is. Ingredients on the back lists 0.2% Sichuan peppercorn. How did I not see this coming. Honestly, it really is a pretty nice, big herbal kind of interesting spicy nose. In the flavor, you’ve got some bready malt, spicy pepperiness, with an interesting sort of herbal finish that mimics the nose. Really interesting and unique. Something like seaweed. Moderate bitter taste, lighter sweet, kind of mild dry finish. Mild peppery heat on the back end. Medium-plus body, good full feel. Lighter kind of effervescent carbonation. Sort of slick. I dunno, it’s pretty interesting stuff. I’m confused but attracted. Not anywhere near as drinkable as your typical pilsener, but I guess it’s not supposed to be. This is more of an event.

330 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 6/4/2017. Pours slightly hazy golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Awesome appearance. Aromas of big lemon, lime, coriander, peppercorn, cracker, bread, light smoke, floral, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of pale malt, peppercorn, and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, lime, coriander, peppercorn, cracker, bread, light smoke, floral, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, coriander, peppercorn, cracker, bread, light smoke, floral, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice robustness and balance of pale malt, peppercorn, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Good amount of dryness from hop/spice bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast ester notes presence. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as espected of 4.5%. Overall this is a damn nice spiced German pilsner style! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of pale malt, peppercorn, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and clean to drink. The peppercorns blended really well with the noble hop character that is traditional for the style. A very enjoyable offering.

On 33 cl bottle. Slightly hazu golden color, good foam. Medium aroma intensity; lemongrass dominates, also some citrus and fruitiness. Medium/light body & medium complexity. Good bitterness and balance. Enjoyable

Tåkete gylden brun med to fingre høyt ofwhite skum. Lukter nellik, hvitpepper og noe blomster. Får mer hveteølfeeling enn pilsfeeling. Smaker bittert, sitron, pepperig og noe salt. Pepper i avslutningen
