3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour is a hazy, sediment-filled, chestnut-maroon color with a full, foamy, fizzy, beige head which diminishes to a thin, lasting layer and leaves minimal lacing. The nose is nice some spicy alcohols, spicy cinnamon, slight bourbon tinge, toasted oak and caramel, molasses, cinnamon raisin toast, slight vanilla. The flavor is less rich than the nose suggests; cinnamon raisin toast, toasty caramel in there, light molasses, and a slight coffee bitterness. The palate is medium to full, lively, chewy, and coating. The finish is slightly dry with toasty oak coffee bitterness, still cinnamon, and an emerging chocolate presence. A very nice barrel-aged strong Belgian but the barrels diminished the richness and complexity if the beer beneath. A nice addition to the Mikkeller line up, but not as nice the original.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(375ml bottle) clear brown, rich, soapy bubbles. Nose of rich bourbon, raisin, spirits, caramel, complex awesome. Taste is less rich and more alcohol, no dark fruit to speak of, thin palate and hot linger.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12.7 ounce bottle. Served in a Unibroue tulip, the beer pours a mostly clear dark reddish/brown color with an inch and a half light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is very sweet, it smells like dark fruit (plums, raisins), vanilla, bourbon, maple, brown sugar, molasses, and some chocolate. It tastes like dark fruit, vanilla, bourbon, bittersweet chocolate, wood, brown sugar and molasses. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and slick, and is also well carbonated. I think it’s a good overall brew, but pricey at $12.99 a bottle. Worth a try if you come across it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pouts dark brown with a small brown head. Nose is vanilla, wood, leather and some slight citrus fruit. As on not good but not bad. Might be on its way out. Taste is not great. More tart than sweet that I would expect from the barrel. Very little bitterness. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, medium body with a long finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
@ Gyllenbock: Stor fatdoft men ganska ensformig med tydlig bourbonsötma och en torr eftersmak. Tydlig smak av äppelkärner.

Bottle bought in Copenhagen in June 2012.
Hazy orange/brown with a small head. This was a difficult beer to define. Wood, some bourbon, fruit, yeast, caramel and apples. Drinkable but unfortunately a bit chemical.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Whole Foods in Folsom, CA. Pours dark brown with a creamy/foamy light tan head. Aroma is primarily bourbon. Full bodied. Flavor of dark, dried fruit, with kandi, and some definite bourbon/vanilla. There’s a strange fruity/malty aspect that is difficult to pin down. However, it’s a very flavorful ale. Not brilliant, but excellent.
