3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: pours dark, murky, muddy brown with milky off white head that looks like cream on a Starbucks coffee. Nose is brutal bourbon, wood, raisins, molasses and coffee. Loads of bourbon, vanilla, caramel malts and alcohol heat on the finish. The beer grows on you but it's somewhat rough and uneven for BB quad. ABV is noticeable for sure

Bottle shared at Beer Temple. Pours cloudy brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, oak, yeast, candy, booze, very subdued bourbon. Flavour is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Good, but not great.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2013 Bottle @ il pretesto. It pours dark with a good beige head on top. Aroma and flavor are bourbon, vanilla and candi sugar overall. Great body and well balanced with a good bitterness. A great beer!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle... Murky dark-brown ale with a mid-sized, fluffy, taupe head. The aroma is a marriage of burnt caramel and bourbon underscored by hints of lactic acid, toasted oak and maple syrup. Light to medium-bodied and watery with fizzy carbonation. The bittersweet flavor is both nutty and chocolaty including a warm, smooth, bourbon element. Finishes lightly tangy and sweet; capped by a gentle kiss of vanilla. Bottle courtesy of the ever-generous growler!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
375mL bottle, pours a deep murky, dark mahogany with a substantial, lingeringly foamy tan head with loads of sediment. Nose is the best of both worlds, both quad-like characteristics and loads of bourbon, perhaps more of the woody barrel notes than the remaining dark fruit and brown sugar notes that was present in the base beer. Flavour brings out substantial woody bourbon barrels, a fairly big alcohol kick and none other than what I have to describe as glue (as other reviewers have denoted). Fairly high carbonation, higher than the base beer, with detracts from some of the complexity. Decent, but quite flawed, both due to the glue presence and the high carbonation. Not a shadow on the base beer.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour is a hazy, sediment-filled, chestnut-maroon color with a full, foamy, fizzy, beige head which diminishes to a thin, lasting layer and leaves minimal lacing. The nose is nice some spicy alcohols, spicy cinnamon, slight bourbon tinge, toasted oak and caramel, molasses, cinnamon raisin toast, slight vanilla. The flavor is less rich than the nose suggests; cinnamon raisin toast, toasty caramel in there, light molasses, and a slight coffee bitterness. The palate is medium to full, lively, chewy, and coating. The finish is slightly dry with toasty oak coffee bitterness, still cinnamon, and an emerging chocolate presence. A very nice barrel-aged strong Belgian but the barrels diminished the richness and complexity if the beer beneath. A nice addition to the Mikkeller line up, but not as nice the original.
