Quadrupel barrel aged on Bourbon barrels. Nice malty taste with notes of dark chocolate and dark fruits. The barrel aging gives a nice warmth from the alcohol as well as a nice aroma of vanilla.

7/28/13. 375mL bottle from Grassroots. Deep amber brown pour with a nice fluffy khaki head that sticks like a champ and coats the glass, even in lumps in spots. Mild fruity aroma, mildly malty - smells like beer, honestly - almost Budweiser in a sense (seriously) - with some BA burn. Surprisingly light flavor, some sweet fruits, water, and light BA and metal. Iím surprised at how light and unflavorful this is while being surprised at how drinkable it is considering the style and ABV. Eh.

bottle, kaisla, thanks Euphemos. brown, thin brown head. vanilla, bourbon, sweet, caramel. flavor has vanilla, bourbon, malt, sweetness. long finish. nice. really strong bourbon notes.

This appeared in my bag from the day trip to Wolverhampton so I guess this is from BlackHaddock, thanks Jeremy if this came from you. Oxidised aroma. Some malt. But really very oxidised to the extent of being almost undrinkable. Nasty. Sorry, this is a drain pour.

2013.07.08 - Mikkeller Monkís Brew Barrel Aged Bourbon Edition - 12.7 oz bottle in small Chimay goblet glass. Aroma: a bit of subdued toffee or candied fruit, bourbon/oak/vanilla Appearance: Pours around 28 on SRM scale. A moderately deep chestnut brown with red highlights. Head/carbonation was pretty vigorous on pour, about a finger or. Centimeter which settled to a creamy cap. Taste: Yummy. Itís a Belgian. Sweet malt, a tease of sour at the front, bit of peppery spice midway, and a smooth exit. This is pretty smooth for a 10%. Vanilla, oak, a trace of licorice maybe. Palate/Mouthfeel: a bit creamy but surprisingly slick and liquid. Little to no alcohol burn. Very well done. Itís not a unique beer IMO but it is well crafted. Aroma 6/10, Appearance 5/5, Taste 8/10, Palate 4/5, Overall 16/20

Appearance: Pours a murky tea brown. Frothy tan film.

Aroma: Bourbon , toffee, dried dark fruit. Maple sugar.

Taste: Bourbon, sweet cereal, baking cocoa, woody finish. Lingers.

Mouthfeel: A bit astringent. Active, creamy carbonation.

Overall: Pretty complex and tasty, and I enjoyed this far more with the added treatment of bourbon barrels.

Bottle: Poured a deep dirty brown color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of huge bourbon notes with light vanilla notes with loads of residual sugar as well. Taste is an intense mix between loads of residual sugar notes with some vanilla and bourbon with some dry raisin and heavy caramelized malt notes. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation with some warming alcohol notes. Too big and too sweet for its own good.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is a dark red-brown beer with very strong, rich vanilla and oak flavours, sweet red fruity notes and currants and creamy chocolate on the finish.

Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose contains loads of vanilla and apples. Taste reveals healthy amounts of barrel, vanilla and toffee. Perhaps missing some sugars to give a denser mouthfeel. Really good if you like barrel aged beer

Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Pours a medium brown, with minimal head. Aroma is farmhouse funk, bourbon, maybe some apple notes as well, yummy. Body is medium/lively, finish is slightly herbal, then boozy. Not bad, just not breathtaking.

Very good cream-tan head over brown-black beer with a red sheen. Strong nose of wood, benzene, rubber, chocolate and liqueur, pralines. Chocolate pudding or cake, vla. Sweet-liqueurish, with a bitterish, woody, quite dry finish. Wood, X-mas spray, spices. Retronasal faint sulphury rubber. Vanilla after some warming, but also more benzene. Very spritzy MF, peculiar for a B.A. beer. Still slick, rather well-bodied, warming. The benzene smell becomes a true liabillity warming up. For the rest, rather interesting brew.
