3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Det här var en intressant öl med mycket smak av syra, fruktighet och smaken i sig är väldigt dov. Kroppen på ölen var bra och balansen likaså.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
330mL bottle to tasting glass
Aroma of molasses, cherries, raisins, and hay. The colour is reddish brown and there's a very thin off white almost tan head. The taste is tart with sweetness and a bit of coffee bitterness. It has a medium body with a creamy and oily texture.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark amber color with an off-white head. Plenty of dark fruit notes on the nose, mostly cherry, raisin, and grape. A little bit of tartness balances out the sweetness somewhat. Dark candi sugar and toasted malts are also prominent. The palate is fairly sweet and malty with a good amount of dark fruit flavors to it. Just a hint of Brettanomyces funk, and maybe a light tartness. Just kind of okay.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Ølkonsortiet, Ålborg. Pours murky ruby with a big creamy off-white head. Aroma is complex, with some brett and oak in the front seat, red ripe fruits and candij sugar.Taste is smooth, light warming mouthfeel, without beeing annoyingly alcohol based, more as a result of the brett and redwine marriage. Slightly spiced end.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg @ BrewDog Edinburgh, 200612
Dark brown, thin tan ring around glass, hint of lacing
Aroma - Fruity sour, some alcohol, rather tart, dark fruity malts, no hops
Taste - Red fruits, bretty, sour lambicy notes but not too much, sweet dark malts, red wine, dark fruits, good if a bit muddled - I prefer the normal Monk’s Elixir to this
Palate - soft carb, full rich body. Finish as main flavour, sour, dab of acetic acid.
Overall - Interesting, rather good, but I prefer this with no brett....as a Quadrupel this one is no way among the best

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
Tap at brewdog. Near black with tan head. Aroma has funky sherbet Brett up front, then some chocolate, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla. Taste has Brett, sweet brown sugar, molasses, hint of licorice, hint of chocolate. Sickly sweet with a sour finish. This doesn’t work for me, I found it quite unpleasant

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Keg at BrewDog Edinburgh. Deep reddish black, thin off-white head. Interesting and strange nose - overripe cherries, balsamic vinegar, hint of manure, tart raspberry, green apples. Nice soft sweetness up front, hint of caramel, raspberry, dry white wine acidity, grassy woody brett, soft tartness. Nice and complex.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a murky deep brown body with a medium light beige frothy head. Nose is complex and quite nice: tart, berry-like brett tones, lemon, wood, red wine, vanilla, white pepper, grapes and dark malts. Taste is herbal sugary tones, sweet malts, red wine and hints of vanilla. Mildly bubbling carbonation, undoubtly subdued from the barrel aging. The whole thing doesn’t seem to agree with me: where is this thing going? What does it want from me? It’s not quite sour, nor too sweet, yet it seems to be wanting to go in each of those directions. The brett character somehow manages to blend in with the red wine, but the barrel character is overshadowed by the sweet malty tones from the Belgian strong ale. All in all, this is too much of a wild fandango in my mouth and I really feel a bit more structure would be good. Very interesting though, and highly original: this is a beer you don’t taste too often - I don’t care how much of a blase ticker you are. :-)

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
375ml bottle, from Erzbierschof.
Pours a dark reddish-brown with a beige head.
Smells of Brett, balsamic vinegar, some feet, and a hint of wood beneath.
Tastes intriguing and exquisite; cherries, vanilla, caramel, cream. A heavy sweetness, part caramel and part fruit, with a creamy soft texture, with just a hint of tartness to make it real. This is wonderful!
