COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium. Known as Monk’s Brew in the U.S.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils and pale), candy syrup, brown sugar, hops (northern brewer, hallertauer and styrian goldings) and ale yeast
Monk’s Elixir is a heavy dark Belgian ale inspired by the Trappist monasteries of Rochefort and Westvleteren. The beer style, characterized by its high content of alcohol, distinguishes itself by its dominant yeast character, delicious malt background and balanced hop notes.

330ml bottle. Coffee, sweet and smoky aromas. Pours really dark brown, with tan head, disipating, poor lacing. Medium to full body and soft carbonation. Tastes coffee, some bitter, alcohol being noticed. Finish is bitter and warming. Gets a bit saturating at the end.

Really nice pitch black pour with a lingering light brown head. Bordering on sickly sweet this was an awesome night cap especially with the abv of 10%. Smooth, rich and tasty. All ingredients included in brew come togeather nicely.

Bottle. Very dark brown/red. Aroma has alcohol at first, estery yeast, banana, also some dark fruit, plum and date, caramel. Taste is a bit more full on yeast, dark fruits, caramel. Sweet with a clean finish. Not bad, not really a fan of Belgian

Bottle with Ben drunk alongside a Rochefort 10. Dark mahogony with a dissipating cream head. Wonderful aroma. Powerful malt, sweet candy and plummy dar, dried fruits. Flavour contains all of the above with the addition of a quite forceful yeast flavour. A honk of booze about it too. At first - very.similar to th Rochefort but but in time proves itself to be less well measured. Delicious though. No doubt about that.

Enjoyed this as Monk’s Brew, not Elixir... but whatever. Very boozy quad, almost too much so. Still a fine beer.

(330ML Bottle) this wasn’t brewed by monks so i call bullshit . Regardless , this is nice and sippable . in a goblet it resembles the holy ales its copying , dark brown color with a pleasant bitter sweet palate , notes of bitter chocolate , caramel, dried fruit , like almonds and dried raisins ...notes of tart berries interact in the atmosphere ...rather syrup on certain sips ’cause of the candy sugar , though some earthy floral hops show up at times nicely ...
A pretty good ’belgian style abbey ale’ with nice complexity .

Served on draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear dark brown color with a thin creamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of toffee, soy and candi sugar. The taste is toffee, stone fruits, berries, herbal and earthy notes and some booze. Medium bodied.

330ml. Heavy claret with a grey-tan fringe of bubbles. Nostril sweet, leathery dried fruits (fig, prune), muscovado, molasses and vanilla pod. Vivid black cherry stone streaks, cooked dark sugar, ripe plum, sweet fig, lightly buttered Soreen. Mellow, plummy and luxurious. Almost as good as Prearis.
