ironchefscott (341), portland, Oregon, USA Jan 18, 2009 very well attenuated and great caramel and fruit flavors actually very very drinkable.....I dig this a bunch IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Jan 18, 2009 Bottle shared by someone at Woodshop Quad. Nose of very light caramel, alcohol, and fruitiness. Clear brown with a medium beige head. flavor of caramel with an alcohol finish. JohnC (2230), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jan 18, 2009 thanks to whomever brought this to woodshop quad
a nicely balanced quad with good flavors of raisin & fig JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jan 17, 2009 750ml from Sam’s, Durham. This one’s a few months old, and has a somewhat lively pour. The color is tawny/copper, with lots of floaties and a modest head (quickly abating). Nice aroma of dark fruits and yeast, though nothing out of the ordinary. The taste is quite dry, a bit to my surprise. Chalky mouthfeel, somewhat thin as well. Not cloying by any means, and the prunes and figs emerge nicely. Booze is hidden too. But things just seem a bit underdeveloped, even thin. Pompey (42), Longmont, Colorado, USA Jan 9, 2009 Off white pour with a tan head of moderate proportion. Vinous aroma. The flavors of malt, lightly toasted grain, and toffee predominate with hints of chocolate and figs on the finish. Just enough mouth feel and balance to let all the flavors develop wonderfully. What really makes this ale is the balance and finish. A very good quad. Do these guys make anything bad? Very nice! TaxiDriver (908), Stadland, Germany Jan 4, 2009 Bottle. A creamy smell of coffee and strong wine, quite malty and sweet. The normal large head is light brown and has a long duration. The body is dark red. A light sweet middle part which goes into a medium bitter finish with a long duration. Tasted a little bit like chocolate, very malty and well balanced. On the palate the beer is creamy, thick, very strong texture, the body is oily and silky with not so much carbonation. A full body. A very good beer, great for colder temperatures. A incredible full body, you can nearly chew it. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jan 4, 2009 Slightly chilled 750ml Monk’s Brew bottle via trade with craig, user id missing from my mind. Pours dark reddish brown with a tan head. Nose is sweet and quite rich. Pretty nice. Taste is sweet and just just just ok. The nose is true to style the taste seems to sweet Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Jan 4, 2009 Was a little worried about this one since I acedentially froze the bottle and there was some leakage. Idiot me! But it thawed slowly in the fridge. Anyway, thin head of varying sized bubbles. Rich malty aroma with some raisins and brown sugar. Pretty sweet smelling. Color is a pretty dark mahagony brown. Sweet and malty with some more raisins and prunes, some molasses and roasted malts. Finishes slick and sweet. Hides its alcohol pretty darn well. A decent brew but lacks the depth of a true quad. A decent brew but lacking for a quad.
