Ingredients : Water, malts (pils and pale), candy syrup, brown sugar, hops (northern brewer, hallertauer and styrian goldings) and ale yeast

With Z with a medium rare sirloin, pours a rich dark mahogany color with no head to speak of. Nose is sweet dark ripe fruit with some malt and toffee. Taste is sweet dark fruit, black currants, dark raisins, plums with malt, and appreciable alcohol. Finish is sweet as well, and has a moderately long finish ending with the sweet dark fruits. Quaff Score 7 /10

If you like strong Belgian ales, do not wait for tasting Mikkellers version. Frother nice and long and has the most wonderful aroma of malt and ripe fruit. The taste is rich of caramel malt, hard toasted malt and sweet syrup taste that is so elegantly balanced in the best Belgian ales. The fruit is raisin, plum, prune and slightly distress. A strong complex cocktail of all the best that belong to a Belgian ale. Gradation which is on the whole 10% are carefully tucked away behind the aforementioned malt and fruit tones. Every mouthful offers new depth impression, and it is virtually impossible to describe what a wonderful ale this is. It is on par with the best Trappist beers and a unique alternative to the best Belgian ales.

Tap at Fairbar. Almost black body with a beige head. Sweet fruity aroma with notes of prunes. Rich sweet taste, fruity and lightly bitter. Medium body with low carbonation. Long finish. A smooth and intense quadrupel, this is good in limited pours but can easily become cloying beyond that.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Deep ruby/bown body with a thin beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma of plum, chocolate covered raisins, toffee apple and nuts. Flavour of treacle, prunes, flat Dr Pepper and caramelised sugar. Thin to medium body with a light mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Ridiculously easy drinking - tastes like 6.0% ABV.
