This was shared by someone at the first Liquid Sunshine. At this point in the night I was pretty smashed so the notes on the next five beers are going to be remedial in the fashion of one of my favorite raters in the whole world whose unhelpful ratings are obviously solely for the point of getting a tick and attempting to win some sort of imaginary internet contest...Cool! My 10th Abt/Quad rating - a milestone! The beers pours muddy brown. Has notes of dark fruit and brown sugar on the nose. Very sweet. Lots of dark bread, carmelized brown sugar and dark fruits in the flavor. Some alcohol notes too. My notes actually say, "drukk". Which I can only assume means one thing...

750 ml bottle. Slightly hazy reddish brown body with a fine and dense brown head. Aroma of sweet malt, mocha, brown sugar, spices and surprisingly well hidden alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt, mocha, caramel, brown sugar, overripe fruit, hops and a bit acid. The alcohol present is more like a warming feeling. Very nice, balanced and complex, the inspiration from the Belgium Trappist beers is clearly, but the typical brown sugar/dry fruit flavor is more in the background leaving more room for the mocha flavor.

Very dark brown with ruby edges and a long lasting large beige head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of caramel, dark fruits, prunes, christmas cake and some light alcohol. The flavour is sweet with some alcohol, creamy, lots of dark fruits, cake and some toffee. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long. creamy and warming.

This drinks incredibly well and I foresee this aging very well.

Brewed in Denmark...... Pours a dark brown color with some amber highlights and a thin white head. Aroma of raisins, brown sugar and some malts. Taste of spices, nuts, brown sugar and warm bread. The mouthfeel in my opinion is just like a doppelbock !!! There was some some sediment at the bottom of the glass that looked like coffee grounds. Overall, this was a solid brew and worth looking for.

750 corked bottle and served in my St Bernardus glassware: Disclaimer, I drank almost all of this before even thinking about rating at near room temps, so the verb age will be short... Deep hazy brown. Malty and fruity nose with classic abbey yeast esters. The taste is sweet but not cloy, rich dark fruits. a hint of alcohol warmth. Smooth and lush on the palate. A well constructed brew and something I need to buy again.

750ml bottle labeled as "Monk’s Brew". Shared by BeerGestapo, thanks Mike. Pours a very dark brown that has ruby edges, small off-white head. This was a very complex beer that had many layers in both the nose and flavor. Bouquet has notes of raisin, plum, bread, brown sugar, and a hint of cherry. The flavor was bready malts, raisin, and cherry with a hint of passion fruit. The finish leans toward sweet with a touch of yeasty spice. It had a smooth velvety mouthfeel with little alcohol presence. The was a small amount of warmth near the end of the glass as well as a bunch of yeast sediment.. Very tasty indeed.

bottle. Pours a deep amber with a ruby hue. Head was tan and about 2 fingers thick. Aromas of raisins, plums, candy sugar, clove and some yeast. Flavor was burnt caramel and a touch of booze......great stuff!

[Bottle] Pours a hazy brown with a medium/large beige head. Aroma is some alcohol, raisins, figs, and malty notes. Flavor pretty much matches. Really nothing exciting. Has plenty of carbonation, but just lacks the depth of flavor that the yeast provides in the trappist brews.
