COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium. Known as Monk’s Brew in the U.S.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils and pale), candy syrup, brown sugar, hops (northern brewer, hallertauer and styrian goldings) and ale yeast
Monk’s Elixir is a heavy dark Belgian ale inspired by the Trappist monasteries of Rochefort and Westvleteren. The beer style, characterized by its high content of alcohol, distinguishes itself by its dominant yeast character, delicious malt background and balanced hop notes.

12oz bottle. thx to KingCecil. Cola brown. Malty, with dark fruit and a little bitterness in the finish. not quite on par with the top quads but pretty good overall.

Ligh redish brown color, nice sticky head. Very sweet beer, a bit to sweet for me, but nonetheless it has some quite interesting frutiy notes - It has kind of a raspberry sensation.

Draught. Pours dark ruby red with a mostly lasting beige head. Aroma of liquorice, chocolate, vanilla, sherry, dark fruits, cherries. Taste is of caramel, fig, vanilla, forest fruits. Light to medium carbonation, sticky oily texture. Lovely.

Shared bottle. Dark brown with almost no head. Sweet, boozy aroma of caramel, cherry and banana. Taste is sweet, with some fruity sour notes, light cherry and banana as well. Medium to full body, creamy texture, but light metalic finish.
