Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium. Known as Monk’s Brew in the U.S.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils and pale), candy syrup, brown sugar, hops (northern brewer, hallertauer and styrian goldings) and ale yeast
Monk’s Elixir is a heavy dark Belgian ale inspired by the Trappist monasteries of Rochefort and Westvleteren. The beer style, characterized by its high content of alcohol, distinguishes itself by its dominant yeast character, delicious malt background and balanced hop notes.

from crackedkettle.com - pours a cloudy brown colour with a modest head retention; fairly malty aroma with light spicy notes and hints of nuts and caramel; full-bodied and quite sweet, thick and slightly oily with a moderate late bitterness; slightly dry finish of malt, nuts and prunes - the strong alcohol content doesn’t really make feel it’s presence

God :)

Pours a dirty brown body with thin head, especially for the style. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, vanilla. Pretty spot on for style, however, slightly undercarbonated, which detracts. Not as good as many in the style. The ABV is well hidden. Not worth the extra $$$, as I can get better within the style at a cheaper price point.

Pours hazy dark brown with almost no head, small off-white bubbles. Aroma has notes of caramel, alcohol and dried fruits. Taste is medium to heavy sweet with a average fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat.

On tap at the Trappist. This one poured dark brown with some red highlights and very nice fluffy khaki head. The aroma is dried dark fruit, hard candy and alcohol. The flavor is the same with a touch of toasted malt flavor that kind of dries out the fruitiness. Very alcoholic and not a whole lot of yeast character.

Tap at gingermans. Looks like a heavy stout, deep black. Malty and molasses, some dark fruits.

(750ml bottle thanks to Dixonian) dark ruby/brown pour, and a thick lasting creamy tan head that lasts the whole drinking session. Nose of tobacco, sweet raisin, sweet bread, smells absolutely delicious. Taste is quiteToasty, almost cloying sweet but toastiness balances it. Creamy body, mild tinge of alcohol but very low presence for 10%. Nice!

75cl bottle @Gråsälstasting #2. BB 03/2017. Poured dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is brown sugar, yeast and coffee and anise. Flavor is brown sugar, some alcohol, caramel and some woody notes. Very easy to drink but slightly too sweet for my liking. Cinnamon in finish. Felt a bit raw..
