Ingredients : Water, malts (pils and pale), candy syrup, brown sugar, hops (northern brewer, hallertauer and styrian goldings) and ale yeast

This beer smells very lively. Lots of stong malt, fig, spice, earthy notes at first. After a while it smells very doughy, with some fresh alcohol and candied sugar notes. Flavor is just superb in its smoothness. It has the flavor and delicacy of a some fresh salad greens. It really reminds me of biting into some very clean and fresh dark greens. The palate is simply something to take a vacation into. It just wraps the mouth in this softness that rivals a milk chocolate mousse.

Jun. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle from Mali Ducan, Split. It poured a lightly hazy copper to brown body with medium sized head. Dark fruit, caramel and herbal aroma, rather weak and simple. Flavor was lightly sweet, fruity (cooked), with some chocolate and residual sugar, not bad but quite simple and empty. Especially considering the ABV, which was not felt much, but everything else was seemingly dampened together with alcohol. Medium body with shorter, chocolate and dark cooked fruity finish. Not bad, showed some very fine notes, but not more than an average Belgian style brew. Expected so much more seeing these ratings! Brand surely sells here.

Brown bottle, 330ml. Pours cola black/brown with a medium brown foam subsiding average. Scent is medium dense Belgian yeast, caramel, toffee. Taste is nice caramel rich saison flavor ale with a bit of hops. Cola. i have experienced this flavor profile before but I can’t recall the name. Mouth feel is caramel and nice fizz. Great.

10%ABV. Abt/Quad. Tapped out dark brown. 25ºSRM. Nose was sweet and suggested honey and dates. Mouthfeel was alcoholic and sweet. Palate had dark fruits with black plums, honey plums and dates. Maybe even some sweet almost overripe Kyoho, the wondrously fruity complex darkly sweet Japanese mountain grapes. There is some nice alcoholic heat in the back of the throat to finish. No hops. Goes on Favorites List !

Bottle at home. As "Monk’s Brew". Aroma is malt, spices, caramel, raisins, yeast, candy sugar, a welcome touch of chocolate. Flavour is sugary sweet, a bit sticky, with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Nice take on the Trappist Quad, rich and smooth.

Draft. Dark brown with a small off-white head. Alcohol taste is so strong. Gets better with every sip, as you get used to it. Quite sweet flavour, medium bitter, yeast, spices, roasted malt and more that I can’t really figure out what is. It’s quite a big gulp and the abv seems to be a bit overpowering.
