COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Nelson Sauvignon is a New Year beer it is fermented with ale yeast, brettanomyces and enzymes. Then it has been aged three months in Austrian white wine casks. Very dry, very vinous and very delicious.

New flat bottle finally shared by plovmand after 3 moves. ;-) Thanks a lot bro this is awesome!! It pours cloudy light amber with a creamy white head. The aroma is very dry and fruity with notes of grape, caramel, wood and nelson hops. The flavour is even better than the aroma. Its very dry and vinous with notes of dark fruits, wood, caramel, ripe berries, nelson hops and is slightly bitter into the finish Lovely lingering in the mouth with a champagne like body.

Bottle. Pours bit hazy orange with a creamy off white head. The aroma is citrus, caramel, white grapes, hops, peach, slight acid and brett. The flavour is very vinous with notes of berries, fresh fruit, brett, peach, light spices, caramel, citrus and ends up very dry and light acidic. Bubbly almost champagne like body. Very complex and very delicious!

LCBS 2010. Gold pour, white head. Aroma of white grapes, cranberries, boysenberries, funk, yeast. Flavor is fruity and funky. Some really nice grape notes, yeasty, earthy. Lightly spicy. Really a treat to try this one. The hops do very well in this.

Darft during CBC Chicago. I want a bottle of this very badly. Pours a slightly hazed golden straw color with a fizzy white froth. Aroma is super grapey, the cask does wonders here, just lovely! Super fresh, very clean, grape grape grape, great contrast of the the punchy NZ hops with cask, no real signs of the brett though. Super drinkable and delicious, unique!

Bottle shared at the LCBS 10. I usually like to give my details, but in this case see sigmund’s description (two down). It’s spot on....

Bottle. Pours a dirty light copper colour. Only the slightest cloudiness. Soappy beige coloure head. Falls away super quickly leaving bugger all lacing. Definately not the most attractive beer I have ever seen. Aromas of over ripe ornage and citrus, some light stone fruits and just the faintest brett funk. Aromas are both sweet and slightly acidic at the same time. Not huge but rather subtle and very very complex. Flavours are initially quite sweet followed by some tartness and funk on the end. Finish is very dry and vinorous. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side. Not sure about this one. It did grow on me through out the bottle but still not sure. Definately very complex and definately glad I gave this one a try.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2011 Rerate: 750 ml "champagne" bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.0%. Cloudy orange to amber colour, huge head, slightly off-white. Intense aroma of brettanomyces ("farmhouse kitchen") and N.S- hops (I’m upping it 1 point). Flavour like first rating. Original rating: Bottle, kindly shared by my beer pal Christian. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Spicy aroma of brettanomyces and Nelson Sauvin hops. Effervescent spicy flavour, notes of gooseberries, white grapes and brettanomyces.

Thanks to Degarth for the share. Pours opaque orange with a white head. Nose is vinous white grapes with brett, some fruit character, and malt/ caramel slight. Flavor is similar: this beer does a good job of showing off the character of the Nelson Sauvignon hop. Dry finish and interesting beer.
