COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Nelson Sauvignon is a New Year beer it is fermented with ale yeast, brettanomyces and enzymes. Then it has been aged three months in Austrian white wine casks. Very dry, very vinous and very delicious.

Such a great beer. 24 karat with a burnt tangerine/copper hue and a solid, tightly packed, ivory crown. Fruity, funky, honey-laden aroma with some tropic notes, candied citrus sweetness, and a hint of wood and chardonnay. Flavor is perfectly balanced. Literally, could drink this stuff all day long (the ABV might be problematic). Hits three of the five basic tastes: sweetness, sourness, and bitterness (probably don’t want the other two in a brew). Mango, papaya, guava, oak, vanilla, Brett, grapefruit pith, orange rind, and wine barrel. Really dynamic and interesting...love the complexity!

Poured from a 750 cc bottle into a crystal stem glass. Pours mostly translucent apricot orange. Bubbly like champagne. Generous head leaving lingering lacing. Aroma is rich in citrus, especially lemon, as well as peach and apricot with notes of coriander and spice. The flavour is a sour mash reminiscent of a lambic, with notes of apricot, lemon, and grapefruit. The brettanomyces influence comes through nicely. The mouthfeel is effervescent like a sparkling wine. I love this!

The aroma was tropical fruit, lightly vinous and slightly funky. It poured a cloudy golden orange with huge thick billowing head. The taste was mostly dry with some good bitterness. Medium bodied, long finish. It has a very nice balance between the funk and the nelson sauvin hops while the white wine is subtle, it really adds to the complexity.

750ml bottle courtesy of WI Ryan. A really nice combination or white wine, brett, and mellow tropical hops, pink grapefruit. Unfiltered orange-red. Steady off-white head. Malt centered still, some caramel tones. Quite a unique beer. Sour tangy white wine tones. Very nice.

75 cl bottle. BBE 16.10.2022.
Pours clear copper-mahogany color with a large white head. First thing on the nose is brettanomyces, some sourish apricot and rose hip. Yeast, spices and wooden notes follow, with faint vinous notes on the background.
Flavor is also sour with apricot and some grape fruit, the yeast, faint spices, grass and goose berries sum up to a quite dry palate. More and more little nyances are found from the aroma and flavor as the beer warms up a bit, but still the balance holds strong. I had my doubts about this but I have to say this is an excellent brew, a bit too expensive though.

Pours a mostly clear dark golden. Aromas are noticeable as soon as bottle is open. Some vegetal notes, cut grass, honey, and some brett funk, horsey pasture. Flavors are equally complex with well-balanced sweetness up front and well-hidden. Palate is very active and lush. Overall a nice complex offering from mikkeller.

Clear golden orange with a tint of red. Large, frothy head. Aroma of red berries, grapes and wood. Hints of barnyard and tartness. Taste is grapefruity fruity grapeish.. A little sweet at first, bitter then dry. Mouthfeel is light and fizzy. One of the best beers I’ve had.
