Draft at Mikkeller SF. A lot of citrus in the nose. Primarily orange. Some dark chocolate as well. Dark brown with a light brown head. Taste is all dark chocolate and roast with a moderate to low fruitiness and a significant alcohol warning/ burn on the back end. Almost causes heartburn. Tames out after a bit but just ok it guess. Orange expression is nice but base beer seems way too thin and roasty for a porter.

Bottle thanks to tectactoe for sharing. Pours dark brown with small foamy head that fades to a ring. Aromas are oranges, espresso, cocoa, and light smoke. Tastes fairly weak for a barrel aged beer. Roasty with some chocolate and light oranges. Light barrel notes in the finish. An ok porter, pretty boring.

On tap @ Mikkeller SF. $9.5/25cl. Pours a deep brown / black appearance with a nice, dark brown head. Chocolate oatmeal, dark fruity, a bit smoky, slightly smoky aroma. Dull carbonation with a goopy mouth feel. Char / tar, burnt malty, moderately smokey flavor with some orange citrus. Full body. Sort of interesting but a little hard to drink.

Bottle courtesy of Mr Bird. Pours black with a dark khaki head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark cocoa, espresso, and orange lollies and peel. Taste is big chewy espresso driven by a lively carbonation. Lots of coffee bitterness, roasted malts. Very zesty finish, tastes like an orange peel being squeezed onto your tongue. Dry, bitter finish with lingering coffee and zest. An unlikely but winning combination.

375ml bottle in a hotel glass. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some orange and citrus, some light oak, hints of alcohol and wine-like characteristics, a light spiciness, and some dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor the same with a very interesting blend. Smoother texture. Really good, but bordering on being too weird.

On tap @ L’Express de Lyon (Mikkeller Tap Takeover). Dark brown (almost black) with a small brown head and little lacing. Aroma is of orange liquor, roasted malt chocolate and light peated notes. Taste is also of orange liquor, light acidity, roasted malt and chocolate. Body is wark for a Porter. Moderate carbonation. With a little more body, this one could be pretty good. Nice balance.

375 ml bottle poured into a Belgian snifter. Super tight bottle cap. Pours black with a tinge of brown and two and a half fingers of tan head. Nice lacing. Aromas of bitter roast, chocolate, coffee, Grand Marnier, light peat, orange. Tastes of dark chocolate, roast, Grand Marnier, orange fruit and peel. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Creamy mouthfeel, medium-low carbonation. Like a chocolate covered orange with a splash of Grand Marnier.
