2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Skinnyviking (5957) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 20, 2013
Bottle. High creamy and quite agressive light brown head. Well this one is black. Odd orange, coffee, caramel, cocoa aroma and something I cannot quite figure out. I does, however, have a herbal note of goodness knows what. Flavor dry hoppy coffee as expected and of course the orange peal is quite dominant. Long bitter finish. Interesting but I don’t quite fancy the aroma.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Vestergaard (109) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - MAY 1, 2013
Pours black with a huge light brown head. Smells sweet and burned. Bitter and a fresh fruityness. The taste is first of all pretty burned, but with this yuzu-thing. I would describe it as something between mandarin and grape fruit. A little flowery too. Not like perfume though. Pretty dominant actually. Definately a fresh touch to the genre.

Bottle, 04/29/2013. Pours near black, frothy light tan head with great retention, fades to a nice blanket o the surface, impressive thick lacing. Aroma is daikon salad with yuzu dressing, deeper orange undercurrents, with dark chocolate, porter roastiness. Taste is citrus and yuzu with slight tart edge, nice grapefruit bitterness with sharp dark roast, espresso. Medium palate with clean finish, prickly carbonation accents the flavors. Pretty interesting.

Draft from alewife. Dark thick black. Small head. Malty choc and coffee. I didn’t get much yuzu whatever that tastes like. Good though.
