3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
33cl bottle bb07/2015, Geers. Metallic ebony pour, some head. Consciously weird & tart nose of spicy, soapy ginger as in chinese plum candy, rubbery to burnt liquorice, some coffee bean, orange zest in bitter chocolate, vanillad baking powder. Slightly overcarbonated, delivering a harsh onset of the berry sours and ginger before the burnt liquorice and soapy yuzu? weirdness again takes over. Lingering roast bean and orange pith finish. Not getting much of the lactose and oats for smoothness/sweetness. Confrontational postmodern composition overall.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
The orange/ yuzu citrus comes through on the aroma, the taste is full of coffee and chocolate notes, then the citrus just lifts the finish. Mouthfeel is really creamy, far thicker than you would expect from its 6% abv. Another mikkeller great.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle, pours black with a tan head. Aroma is orange like citrus notes that are infused and run right through the brew rater than being hop notes, the backing beer has roasted malt, caramel, a touch of choc. Dry finish that balances well. Body is medium, texture oily, carbonation is soft to average. Enjoyed this one.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In the aroma you get some fresh and lively notes from citrus (the Yuzu i guess) and the porter aroma is obvious with roasted malts and coffee. The taste is chalky and dry roasted malty with a lingering citrus aura like a veil around the black body. The Yuzu isn’t super-prominent but it’s there alright. This is a pretty sweet tasting porter, as the lactose and wheat brings down the bitterness, and if that is what you like in your darker brews, then go for it.
