henrikb (1008), Aarhus, Denmark Mar 27, 2006 Updated: Mar 28, 2006Beautiful red-copper body, with a huge thick lasting white head, leaving thick laces; Huuuuge hoppy nose of pine-tree (dried needles), also sweeter orange/ grapefruit peel as well as spices like thyme and bay leaf. It isn’t as flowery as some of the other Mikkeller IPA’s which I think gives it more balance. On the other hand it lacks a bit of complexity and depth; The body is very well balanced, it needs a little more power and fill to be perfect, great carbonation that fills up the mouth perfectly; It finishes of long with some bitterness and a great fill, great pine-tree character as well as some grass and a little hidden licorice and some smoked wood/ oak. The bitterness grows with the finish and extends very long. I actually remember this great beer as being better, but this being my final bottle, I am not sure if I remember wrong or a couple of month in the bottle has changed it. Still a fantastic beer as everything else I have tasted from Mikkeller, Thanks. GarethYoung (1108), Glasgow, Scotland Mar 1, 2006 [bottle LCRBM] Aromatic hoppy nose, fruity, pine, grapefruit. full body with a big bitter finish. joergen (6147), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 25, 2006 Bottle.
Clear orange coloured with an off wite head.
Aroma of pine needles and grape fruits.
Flavour of pine needles, grape fruits and hops.
Dry hoppy finish. kook (2035), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Feb 24, 2006 LCRBM: Good hop aroma, grapefruit and citrus. Flavour is much the same, with a good malt background and some nice earthy notes coming through. Almost a little salty. Nice though. Papsoe (9771), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 18, 2006 (Bottle 50 cl) Unclear amber golden with a thick, creamy yellowish head with good retention. Dry nose with hoppy aromas. Incredibly crisp and dry body completely dominated by notes of grapefruit and a quinine-like bitterness. Some vague earthy and rustic notes. Markedly hoppy finish. Not the most refined IPA from Mikkeller. 170206
