AWISLguy (2207) - Wisconsin, USA - OCT 19, 2013
Half liter bottle from Woodmans in Waukesha, cellar aged a while (2 months?). Pours a very dark brown with a light brown head leaving some spots of lace. Aroma has cocoa powder, caramel, and espresso, with faint smoke. Taste is of sweet caramel, significant bitter roastiness, some milk chocolate, molasses and hints of salty meat smoke. Medium to full bodied. Faint alcohol. Finishes bittersweet, with a nice balance of the two. A touch richer, and this would be world class.

Black pour, moderate sized tan head, good lace/retention. Aroma is dominated by chocolate but has notes of roast, caramel, licorice, a light hop presence. Medium to full bodied, smooth, chocolate flavor with light licorice notes.

Pine coffee aroma. Sweetness in there too. Dark appearance with wispy yellowish head. Low carbonation. Creamy texture. Bitter aftertaste but there is a sweetness in the malts. Woody pine dark chocolate with liquorice flavours. Well balanced. Very nice.

Light auburn head with a full bodied flavor. Perfect beer for dark crafted fans. I was pleasantly surprised by this porter and it’s slightly chocolately taste. Don’t expect to see any light seep through your glass.

stravale (2703) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - SEP 1, 2013
Bottle from Cornelius Wines, Edinburgh [0813]
Pitch black, big frothy dark tan head, some lacing
Aroma of soft roasted malts, dark chocolate, touch of coffee, hint of soy, deep malts, smooth aroma, touch of alcohol
Taste of smooth rich dark malts, plain chocolate, some savoury malt, dab of soy, mainly dark chocolate, really well balanced, rich flavour, alcohol well hidden, not that complex but a really superb tasting porter
Palate - soft carb, medium to full body, oily texture. Palate - creamy rich dark malts. Finish - bit dry tail, mouthcoating rich dark malts, some bitter dark chocolate in linger, superb finish
Overall - Excellent porter, tastes delicious

Aroma of dark chocolate and some coffee. Strong chocolate flavour with burnt coffee. A little to burnt and a little to one dimensional in the flavour for my taste. Slightly to bitter too.

RexTalionis (3376) - FINLAND - JUL 20, 2013
Bottle 50 cl. Pours dark brown in color with a small tan head. Feels at first like very heavy burnt wooden notes, just like sitting at a campfire, which then evolve into lots of roasted notes, coffee mostly but there’s also a sweeter side to it like some cocoa powder, some wood and vanilla is there as well. Smooth and soft mouthfeel. Roasted coffee and cocoa in taste mostly at first. There’s some slighlty bitter and light woody notes too. Towards the finish some vinous notes appears along with some hints of plums. This beer was a nice surprise.
