Aroma of butter and chocolate, black colour with a tanned head. Lovely full mouth feel, little warming from the alcohol, taste of roasted malts and coffee. Really good

I dig this beer. So interesting for a porter, although I suppose I should expect nothing less from Mikkeller. Pours black with off white head. Strong aromas of chocolate, cream soda, and vanilla. Strawberries too. Sweet fruity flavours, more of that cream soda taste, with a roasted malt finish. Unique, and delicious.

The empediment of a porter. A creamy roasted flavor with both sweetness and bitterness. Very dark brown with a light brown head.

draught@erzbierschof - black beer with a little dark beige foam left; strongly roasted coffeish aroma, notes of mocha, ashes and some vanilla in the background; full-bodied, fairly bitter; long nutty and roasted mocha finish - plain, solid and satisfying

I love this beer. Thick, dark body, off white head, light fizz. Chocolate, coffee and caramel flavour. Delicious. I want more.

Pours dark, dark brown with a medium macchiato tan head. Smells ..chocolate/coffee/malt, dark fruits, some woody/old hops and a bit of booze when it warms up. Tastes choc/coffee/malt into cured salty / sour dark fruits (when warmer) which is balanced by a malty coffee sweetness and some roast action+ bitterness to finish. Pleasure.

bottle. deep brown body with a small light brown ring of a head and little retention. simple, inky, dark chocolate is the first impression of the nose, though there’s some char (notes of liquid smoke and soy sauce are coming up) and light esters (plum, date, black cherry, dark fruits, etc.) that show up with time, but altogether the nose seems a bit plain and one-dimensional (a lot of chocolate syrup). low carbonation, medium-high body which dissolves late into a medium-thin finish. medium-low bitterness and low acid, light to moderate roasted grain astringency, though much cleaner than most of the De Proef Mikkeller beers, I have to agree with others. not too sweet, decent roast character with some mild malted milk ball notes and a touch of green hops (pine and a little bell pepper). overall it’s a well-made strong porter but I wonder if a little more carbonation could give it a little more expression to those dark fruit esters and give the body a little more roundness and froth.
