On tap at Friscoe Grille & Taproom in Columbia, MD. Opaque, near black with 2-finger brown head and excellent lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and smiley roasted malt. Taste of sweet, rich chocolate, roasted coffee, molasses and dark roasted malt. Medium/full body and medium/light carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

150712: Black Porter from Mikkeller which is brewed in Amager brewery. Nice light brown foam. Lovely chocolate flavor.

500 ml bottle from The Wine and Cheese Place. Pours an opaque coffee brown with a massive, frothy tan head that laces the glass. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, earth, nuts, dark fruits, and toasted sugar. Flavor of dark chocolate, fudge, wood, earth, tobacco, and nuts. Medium-bodied, with medium-high carbonation and a roasty, drying, bitter mouthfeel. Just a wee bit abrasive on the palate, but otherwise a solid porter.

What a great porter. Highly roasted and nutty with great deep chocolate and malty flavors. Starts sweet and finishes dry and flavorful. Full bodied and fantastic A+.

Bottle. Pours with a black hued body with a very large brown head. Good retention and very good lace. Head slowly recedes (not much). Aromas are very floral, pine, cocoa powder. Lots of bready malt, nutty, dark bakers chocolate. Woody and earthy. Flavors are ashy, bitter, a touch acrid. Roast is a bit harsh for my tastes (personal preference with black malt and roasted barley). Some nuttiness. Dry. Some acidity to the roast. Malty, nutty, toasted, biscotti flavors. Some vanilla flavors, floral hops. Medium to medium light bitterness. Roasty balance. Medium to slightly fuller carbonation. Medium dry, a bit fuller bodied. Light mineral or carbonic bite towards the end. Very good, not really sure it is how take a porter. Its pretty solid, but I’m not in love with it. Well crafted though.

Great malty roasty aroma. Delicious malts. Mikkeller can really make an awesome Danish dark beer! Cheers!!

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown body, almost black, with a nice one inch foamy brown head that retained as a thin covering. The nose is roast and chocolaty with a slight hint of citrusy hops. Very thick and robust aroma. The chocolate has a real nice dark cocoa quality. The flavor leans toward the roast more than chocolate, almost like bakers chocolate what is there. Comes across rather bitter and burnt. The finish is long and slightly acrid. Mouthfeel is a bit overly carbonated for my tastes, but the body is nicely thick and chewy. There are certain aspects of this that I like, but on the overall it’s fairly average.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours pitch black color with a nice 3 finger fairly dense tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Some nice spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, toast, earth, herbal, bread, caramel, tobacco, and light apple skin fruitiness. Some pretty nice aromas with good strength and balance; but the apple skins throw it off a bit. Taste of dark chocolate, roasted malt, toast, caramel, vanilla, coffee, cream, herbal, earth, and light char. Light roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, vanilla, coffee, cream, and light char on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of flavors that are quite robust; with a nice malty backbone that is not cloying at all. Medium carbonation and body; with a very creamy and slightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice anf straightforward robust porter. Very nice robust and balanced flavors, and extremely easy to sip on. Only knock I have against it is the slightly off aromas. Very enjoyable stuff.

Bottled 500ml (Beer Hunters)
Almost opaque brown color, small steady brown head. Strong chocolate-cocoa aroma. Medium-bodied. Chocolate, toasted malts, sweet malts, chocolate bisquits. Very tasty with Amager fingerprints in it.

Pours blackish brown, thin dense ring of sandy head. Nose is roasted malts, anise, coffee, milk chocolate, pine. Same flavors on the palate but it's simply bolder and really tasty. Could drink this on a consistent basis. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
