3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle. Black Coffee Colour, thin tan head that doesn’t last. At the end you see elements of proteins or yeast. Aroma is roasty, burnt and woody. Medium sweet taste, roasty with subtle notes of hops. Easy to drink despite the 8% ABV. Really nice and smooth Porter.

Very dark brown color, average sized brown head. Nice retention. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, coffee and hoppy frutiness underneath. Taste is similar. Very nice citrusy fruitiness and vanilla hints. Greatly balanced. Long coffee and cocoa aftertaste. Awesome.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Dark, sticky head attracts my eyes when it pours. Toasty aroma begins, pleasantly a little thick and chocolatey malt taste spreads and tenderly finishes below some spicy hoppy-flavor. I like it!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Mikkeller’s (robust) porter, one of their many beers made in Belgium’s Proefbrouwerij (bur originally at Amager, I heard) and one of the true Mikkeller classics, I assume. Opaque jet black beer (but revealing it is actually an extremely dark ruby bronze in the last drops), under a thick and very stable, very regularly shaped, frothy, heavily and almost ’sabayon-like’ lacing, utterly dense and cappuccino-like, reddish beige head. Pleasant aroma of toasted bread, bitter chocolate, Cuban cigars, smoked bacon, subtle espresso, bayleaf, vanilla, home made caramel, fresh nettles, gooseberries, hazelnuts, cloves, grapefruit peel, Irish coffee, wood ashes, dried ginger, iron but in a ’natural’ kind of way, cream and dried plums. Taste begins quite intense, a condensed candied fruit sweetishness but subtly so, gentle sourish accent (lemon zest), soft carbonation, creamy, ’fatty’ mouthfeel, thick caramelly, nutty and chocolatey malts with amusing spicy notes dancing above, slight metallic tone but not disturbing, leading to a satisfying finish of roasted black coffee-like bitterness, peppery and leafy hop bitterness, some residual caramelly sweetishness and a subtly dosed portion of booze, in the form of warming, bourbon-like alcohol which does not become too intrusive at any point. Very well balanced, tasty, juicy ’black beer’, creamy and flawless, but perhaps a bit ’too’ black and roasted to be a true porter - if you told me this is a stout, I would accept that just as easily. I’d probably identify it as an export stout or a dry stout in a blind tasting as well.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
APPEARANCE - beauty black with nougout colored head with great lacing and persistent head.
NOSE - super roasty and delicious. Like the flavoe, nice carmely notes.
FLAVOR - deep and roasry, dep and delicious. Carmel flavors become present as my mouth empties of the sip.
NOTES - solid beer - one of the best mikeller offerings. The scent is the best part of the beer.
