Thanks to Dutch’s for the bottle pour. A surprising floral, resin, cannabis hop presence in the nose and on the tongue. Hints of candy sugar and cinnamon to follow. Thankfully not too sweet. As far as Christmas beers go, this one is a keeper.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Amber coloured beer with some light carbonation and an average off-white head. Sharper refreshing citrus fruity grassy hoppy aroma (lemongrass, zest, coriander). Full creamy palate. Finish is sprankling bitter, dry fruity with some hop dry touches. Nice.

Taster from bottle, courtesy of Jackie at the CASK Pub & Kitchen, 1st Nov 2010. Hazy orange. Nose of cough candy and fresh hops. In the mouth, you find citrus flavours locked in a duel with candy sugar. Delightful, definitely need to try this again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Magnum shared at the 5000 tasting - lots of crystal malts, weedy, grass in the nose. Caramel, piney, meadowy hops with a dry finish. not that impressive, despite the size of the bottle.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
In short: An easy to drink beer that is very hoppy (piney) and has an original spicy character.
How: Bottle 1.5L magnum. Exact age unknown, probably a little over one after bottling
The look: Cloudy amber body topped by a medium white head leaving good lacings
In long: Nose blends a fun array of spices and plenty of piney resinous hops. Taste has plenty of grainy slightly toasted malts, orange peels, berries, dry herbal spices, lots of piney hops, hops resin. Finish is rather dry and the big is quite easy to drink. I could not really name individual spices but all I can tell is that they were not the usual array of Christmas beer spices (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, etc.) and it was a just a nice spicy flavor that not only was original but also worked really well with the piney resinous hops. I really enjoyed that beer. Very nice Christmas beer. But I think that Christmas and other holidays should learn from Halloween and encourage women to dress like sluts.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12/12/11/12//12

Appearance : Hazy amber with a medium creamy white head.
Aroma : Awesome spices with nice fruits. Herbal hops. Notes of mandarines.
Taste : Great spices with awesome fruity mandarines. Very fresh. Niucely herbal and floral.
Overall : Wow this was very nice. Unique fruity profile mixed with the herbal and floral hops. It was very fresh and very drinkable. Great balance. Didn’t really felt the 8% abv. Real nice beer.

My Bottom Line:
Herbs and conifers spice up this festive brew’s aroma, as rose water, orange zest and cherries slowly step aside for rising resinous hop bitterness. There is a lot going on here, but it is amazingly harmonious and well rendered.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-Generous foam stays atop the cloudy pale amber.
-Light alcohol burn reminds you that this is not meant to be drunk quickly. The attractive spice and hop combo make you forget about this alcohol though...
-The fluffy, pillowy mouthfeel serves the flavor profile admirably.
-The yeast and base malts add cake flour allusions which are quite pleasant.
From a magnum.
