3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at ØlKonsortiet Christmas tasting Pours a nice amber color with that really dense and good looking head that’s classic for Mikkeller’s beers. The aroma is very hoppy, very citric, lime and grape, lots of orange peel, some malty characteristic. The taste has loads of fruity and citrusy hops, grape, pine apple, nice caramel malt and a bit of wheat too. Nice

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
1.5 litre bottle, for Americans that’s twice the size of a good bottle of Scotch. I was not expecting it to be so hoppy, and good hoppy, with a ittle spiciness in the seondary. The aroma is the same. Good mouthfeel. Yellow with huge bubble head, lacey. Yeast comforting in the finish. High alpha. This is the final beer of the night, and closer to sipper. From Half Time.

2010-10-02. Crisp golden amber with a large frothy white head and lace. 4+ Flavour is pleasantly hoppy and bitter, modest melange of citrus is not super assertive, but pervasive. Mild supporting malt base. Light resin touches. Aroma is pleasantly hoppy, interesting citrus, lemon, lemon seed. 7+ Smooth average plus palate is fairly carbonated. 3+ Solid, this is just a very good, very drinkable strong hoppy brew. I wish I had more stomach space available to drink more of it. Bottle shared by Sammy

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
1.5L magnum bottle, courtesy dickinsonbeer, consumed relatively fresh in March 2010. The pour yields a lightly hazy, dark golden-orange body. A small, bubbly head of beige froth crowns the surface. Scattered, tiny lacing spots dot the glass. The nose is very hoppy, showing strong notes of pine resin, grapefruit, and a hint of green grass, all over a creamy malt base of blonde candy, toffee, and light dessert bread. There are definitely some lactic, wheaty tendencies. It comes across much like an imperial wheat IIPA. Flavors are largely the same, with a few variations. Again very hoppy and resinous, pine pushes forward as the dominant hop characteristic, joined by supporting notes of oily lemon peel and some peppery wildflowers. Toffee malt is amply sweet, smoothed out by creamed wheat grain, and sporting a bit of mild spicing. Thankfully, the bready yeast manages to keep things dry enough to avoid any overly cloying, sugar laden tendencies. Medium-plus in terms of body stature, the palate sports moderate carbonation and a smooth, creamy consistency. Very nice brew overall. The balance achieved is remarkable.

Shared by bhensonb. Pours cloudy orange amber with a massive off-white head and a sour spicy aroma. There is a musty barnyard flavor on the sour side, with a dry finish. This is a unique blend of witbier and red ale and it exhibits characteristics of both.
