(Draught) Pours hazy pale red. The aroma is medium to heavily acidic with tart berries in the background. Citric and light toasted with barnyard and horse blanket-like brett. The flavour is dry and medium to heavily acidic. Citrus and horse blanket brett. Subtle hints of currant. The mouthfeel is tart. Medium bodied.

Koelschtrinker (10438) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 11, 2011
11/13/12/13//13

Bottle @BBF 2010, courtesy of Mikkel - many thanks! Highs: Holy crap - it’s sour and tart. Again - holy crap, it’s sour and tart! I can’t say that I love this style, but this is one fine beer for what it sets out to achieve. Nice.

Draft. A hazy red beer with a small reddish head. The aroma has sour notes of red currant. The flavor is quit sour and dominated by red currant, though also with some brett notes and what comes with that, leading to a tart finish. The acidity tickles the tongue.

Hazy red of color with a small reddish head. An aroma of red berries, sour and horse. A flavor of reddish berries, mild sour and fresh.

[Sampled with the trio: Svoger, Svogergylp and Adenila Foged at EBF, 2008.] Although it is long time I’ve tasted this I remember some great sourness. Light and easy to swallow.

On tap at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. A hazy, candy-red beer with no head. Berries, sourness, barnyard, horse blanket and some lemon in the aroma which is quite subtle. Would like it more pronounced. The funky flavor has lemon, barnyard and horse blanket, finishing with a lasting lambicish lemony flavor. Yet another nice limbic from Mikkeller. (080913)
