Keg at BD Shepherd’s Bush tap takeover. It pours a deep red-purple color with a large pink-ish head. Aroma is sour maraschino cherries, cherry pits, maraschino liqueur, almond, lactic acid, light funk and rice/grains. Taste is quite sweet upfront, with red berries, cherries, raspberries, yoghurt. Mild acidic finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, tasty, quite zingy and refreshing

"unfortunately for me and my wallet, i gotta go with the general consensus on this one. the cherry and almond scarcely made their presence known in this rice ale that looked promising, but ended up tasting like a suped up macro beer, or micro pils at best. the body was thin and highly carbonated, and the flavor, while having a touch of sweetness, had no follow through, and i found the fruit lacking, and the beer to be quite boring. one of mikkeller’s worst and a price gouge at over $10."

Somewhat weird Christmas beer brewed in the ’Proef’, with creamy but coarse, off-white head and orangey blonde colour with pinkish hue, hazy. Sweet fruits in the nose but in a genuine way, strawberry, raspberry, sweet cherry, cooked rice, marzipan, vanilla, candi sugar; very fruity taste, real fruit, soft and well-rounded, quite complex, ever more dry towards the finish with acidity and warming alcohol. Interesting.

Bought a bottle at De Molen in Bodegraven, Netherlands. I was expecting a sour cherry beer and ended being quite disappointed. Instead it was a sweet beer, to be honest didn’t even taste much like beer with a hint of cherries at the end. On the plus side it has a nice color and the bottle is beautiful.

Bottle. Clear orange red pour, thin off white head. Pretty sweet and syrupy, cherry, nuttiness, mild cough syrup, marzipan, and slight tartness. Too sweet for my liking.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Clear, dark copper colour. Film of white head. Cherry compote. Actually, forget all that. Cabana chocolate bars. Probably early to mid eighties. Those, in a glass. Lovely.
