Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Ariel. Murky pinkish orange. Aroma of graininess, yeast and a bit of cherries. Sweetish flavor with cherries, almonds, graininess, light sourness and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Pretty weird, not my thing.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ferris (482) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 3, 2013
Bottle vintage 2012 - Sour strawberries a bit of bready funk. Some dark fruit very complex and pleasant. Cloudy amber with a thin head. Sour strawberries smells better than it tastes. Pretty good fruit retention considering age but the sourness was a bit much.

Pours a great pinkish red. Slightly acidic aroma of tart fruit and marzipan. Cherry flavors balanced by sweet almond. Light acidity, finishes dry. Very unique beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 andrewturba (446) - Alberta, CANADA - MAR 21, 2013
Pours a muddy copper with a touch of red, big off white head that lasts and sticks all the way up the glass. Aroma consists of cherry(on the slightly sour side), and bready toasted malts. Flavour is a sour cherry(not over the top), bit of a creamy mouth feel, nutty, overall a smooth 8 percent fruit beer perfect for a holiday dessert.

Bottled. Poured light-medium orange with a tall, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up fairly sweet almonds and cherries with accents of oak and a pinch of molasses.. very pleasant. The flavor found nutty notes and aged caramel at the core, with sweet and tart cherry juice plus oak laced throughout.. light oxidation and cherry juice on the dry finish. Medium-bodied with fairly filling carbonation on the palate.. OK feel and flow, but I enjoyed the dryness in the end.. aiight.

Shared with Doug at the bayou. Poured from a 375 ml bottle. Pours pink with a thin quickly dissipating head. Lots of earthy almond notes. Slight chocolate covered cherry character. There is a Belgian strong/Triple yeast character. Nice holiday beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 neuromatt (858) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 22, 2013
375 mL bottle courtesy of Jer, served in a stem glass. Pours hazy amber with a hint of red with a small tan head that fades slowly to a thin cover and leaves a moderate amount of lace. On the nose, there are notes of medium toasty malts, sour cherry and honey, along with a hint of earth. The flavour is medium sweet, with a hint of sour throughout. Honey sweetness is paired with cherry and a hint of grains. The finish is long and fruity with slightly sour cherry, honey and touches of yeast and spice. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice cherry brew with big honey notes. Very tasty and well crafted as always from Mikkeller. 2012-08-04
2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ryecatcher (349) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 20, 2013
Pours a pinkish amber (if that makes any sense) with a spotty and slightly pink-tinged off-white head, outstanding retention and lacing. Nose is faint, with a bit of yeasty funk and not much else. Mouth is creamy, medium-full bodied with some wheatiness and lightly sour fruitiness mingled with a slight caramel sweetness on the back end, finishes with some nuttiness (I’m guessing that’s the almonds, but it certainly isn’t almondy in the marzipan or amaretti sense). This might have been better a year ago... the cherries were almost undetectable, but all I can rate is what I’m drinking right now.
