| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2008 Dark, strong beer with a clear flowery aroma that mix with some more burned notes. The taste is not as rich as one would expect, but still you get a lot of taste. Try it out! Maria (6167), Thisted, Denmark
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 21, 2008 It is a black beer with a red hue and the head is dense and creamy. The aroma has notes of chocolate, light dark fruit and light spice. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt, plum and other fruits, light alcohol, chocolate, licorice, spice and the finish is slightly dry. It is remarkably delicious. The previous years it has been wonderful, but this year I hear the angels sing. Damn, now I have to buy some more for Christmas eve... Petrucci914 (578), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 20, 2008 Very dark brown in color with a medium well retaining brown head. Aroma of chocolate, special b- raisins, estery belgian yeast, molasses, alot of spices, and hops: complex aroma that has alot of different components. Taste: alot of chocolate, dark fruit, musty, slightly bready and earthy yeast. A good amount of spices and molasses, and choclolate. Hopping is moderate for the style and adds a bit of complexity. Bitterness is moderate to strong in the finish. I really enjoyed this one. sgrossweiler (1), , New Jersey, USA does not count | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2008 Quality beer; with nose of chocolate and maybe a hint of cinnamon. The appearance is lovely with a dark brown hue that pours with a nice foamy head. Looks rich and satisfying. The flavor was lacking to me as I expected more chocolate. The coriander was odd and the orange that was added dose not compliment the other spices. However all this aside it is satisfying. The chocolate in the beer is a bitter chocolate and could have been a little sweeter for how thick the beer is. The palate feel is thick and rich with no outstanding features. Drinks smooth and easy and the flavor notes are consistent from start to finish. tupalev (2612), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 18, 2008 Bottle, private order, R+R. Very dark murky brown, nice brown frothy head. Lots of molasses, fig, chocolate in aroma. Taste - mmmm - nice fig, cinnamon, choclate, alcohol, and even some hops. Wow, this is a terrific winter ale - not sure where the Belgian characteristics come in as this almost tastes like a higher alcohol Anchor. Almost porter like. Lots of chocolate in finish. Terrific complex warming stuff - a real winner.
