blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 21, 2009 My bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus & biegaman -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a very deep ruby-brown with an average size lasting frothy light-brown head. Aroma of lightly roasted dark malt, chocolate, coffee, light spices, fruit, light hops and more -- there’s lots going on here. Flavour’s roasty along with coffee, spices and chocolate. Roasty, bitter, alcoholic finish. Medium bodied. If I had to nitpick I’d say it’s a little too boozy (cellaring it for a few years wouldn’t hurt) but it’s a damn good beer as it is. cheeta (858), Langå, Denmark Apr 15, 2009 Heavy malty and fruity aroma. Huge, frothy, light brown body. Mostly lasting longevity. Black body. Moderate bitter and very smoked flavor. Medium palate. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 12, 2009 Bottle pours a tan head with a dark brown body. Aroma is bubblegum, herbal, and dark. A lot going on with this beer. Flavor is roasted, bubblegum, herbs, chocolate, anise, and more. Very interesting, weird beer. Drink this. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Apr 10, 2009 Style; glass: Belgian Strong; trappist, tulip, tumbler

Purchased at: Canal’s Lawrenceville for $12.19
Aroma: cocoa, coriander, orange peel, zest, and pepper.
Visuals: fun, idyllic, brand oriented packaging, A deep midnight, deep brown, opaque, bright tan head, sticky lace.
Taste: expertly balanced, dark roasted coffee malt, peppery hops, refined strength.
Palate: crisp texture gives way to a rounded mouthfeel, long burnt finish with bitterness and cocoa.
Overall: delicious, layered and amazing. This is the epitome. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 10, 2009 [1912-20081219] 750mL bottle. Sweet fruit and dark malt roast aroma. Hazy, dark dark brown body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Sweet dark fruit flavour has lots of malty weird floral spices. Medium-full body. Quite nice, big and flavourful.
(c/o tupalev, w/ him, jerc) MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Mar 30, 2009 750ml - Aroma is strong dark malts, cocoa, doughy dubbel yeast, bitter hops and a lot of spice. Pours dark brown with a medium brown head and great lacing. Flavor is cocoa, spice, roasted dark malts, coriander and a hop bite. Palate is creamy but sharp. A different and very tasty brew. stouby (1932), Holbaek, Denmark Mar 29, 2009 Bottle at DØE gnf 2009.
Dark brown with a lght brown head. Aroma heavy malty (dark fruits, brown sugar, chocolate, coffee, coriander, orange), moderate hoppy. Flavor heavy sweet, moderate bitter. Full body. soccer290 (135), Highland Park, Illinois, USA Mar 28, 2009 750 mL bottle. Saw this, love Mikkeller, bought it. Pours a dark brown color with a small head that disappates quickly. Smells of orange peel, some cinnamon, a few fresh hops, and chocolate. Tastes of dark chocolate (perhaps cocoa), a bit of cinnamon, and a hint of orange (though much less than the smell). Goes down quite smoothly, though you can tell that when it warms, the alcohol will come out more. Overall a good Mikkeller beer, though I would have rather had it around December 25th, not March 28th.
