3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Courtesy of Blazer06. Pours deep amber with thin tan head. The aroma is a pleasing mix of firm spices, plums, dates, yeastiness and some caramel. The taste is pretty smooth with winter spices, sweet ripe red apple and brighter and brighter winter spices as the carbonation unloads across the palate. By midway a note of caramel and black strap molasses come to the surface to help pull this thing together into the finish. Pretty bright in flavor overall for an í08.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle @ Olutravintola Pannuhuone. Rated @ 18.6.2010.
Black colour and a dense brown head. Spicy, very christmassy aroma with notes of roasted malts. The flavour is medium sweet with fruits, dry hops, which have lost their edge during the years. Medium/full bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. I definitely like this one a bit more raw. 2009 version 4.0 points.

Bottle. Chocolate pound cake. Banana. on nose. Dark colour with decent brown head. Taste, sour bit - malty but mild on back side of tongue. Will be nice with chocolate cake, or choc-berry cake.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, 75cl corked. It pours a dark chestnut body, looking black in dim light, and with a finger-thick beige head on top. I guess it was biggger when the beer was fresh, but it looks good anyway. Itís vinous and sugary on the nose, with dried figs, cocoa and some spiced notes. After a while in the glass, the alcohol initially noticed more or less disappears and the sugary touch integrates with the other aromas. Itís super-smooth and full-bodied, quite warming too. Thereís figs, some spices, chocolate and some coffee, a touch of orange marmelade and a good dash of dark sugars, treacle maybe. The finish has some oxidation to follow the sweet, vinous flavor, some bitterness also chimes in, and the chocolate and dried fruits lasts forever and ever. Also the alcohol burn in the mouth stays for a long time, but just in a pleasant way. A true beauty, wish there were more of these in my cellar.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
In short: A roasted, chocolaty, nutty and slightly spicy dark ale of some kind. Very good, but could have been great if carbonated properly
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed when over 1 year of age, more than two years before expiration date.
The look: Dark brown body topped by a very small beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is roasted with notes of cacao and a tiny bit spicy. Taste is very roasted, lots of chocolate (both bitter black chocolate and milk chocolate), toasted nuts, dry fudge brownies, caramel, wood coal, light spiciness. Some dark fruits as it warms up. Overall quite dry. The one problem the beer has is a lack of carbonation. I can feel like all the flavors would have come out so much better had the beer been carbonated properly. Named after most middle age menís worst nightmare. Is there a moment I fear more than the day I am asked to play Santa because Iím the obvious choice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled (thanks fonefan!). Very deep amber colour with small beige head. Aroma is liquorice, dark dry fruits, caramel malts, some spices as well as some slight notes of alcohol. Flavour is rather well balanced sweet malts, some liquorice, dark dry fruits, some earth, mild spices as well as some fruityness. Warming alcohol in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle pours a watery, opaque black with a spitty, slightly off white head. Aroma of yeast and spices, dark chocolate pieces, light vanilla, dark bread. The chocolate comes first in the flavor, sweet caramel, breads, yeast, spices. Medium bodied and sweet.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep brown, almost black. Roasted malt, cocoa, some fig and spice. I loved the 2007, but this yearís is a harsher and the flavors just donít meld as well.
