Darkbrown and similar head with aroma of x-mas-spices. More flavornotes of spices, ginger, alcohol, anise, roasted cacao, sweet maltiness and with a long lasting finish of good heavy alcoholic warmness. dwyerpg (2529), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Flavor is thick, some roast, some Christmas spice, maybe nutmeg and incredibly smooth. A hint of graininess and hops in the finish. An excellent beer. cyrenaica (440), Milton, Ontario, Canada

I tried this beer on April 23, 2009 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a solid brownish-black with a 1" light brown head. The aroma was roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, yeast, and spices. The mouthfeel was full-bodied, slightly creamy and with medium carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt, chocolatey, with a hint of plums and molasses. A very enjoyable beer. nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Notably belgian in character, doughy. Same flavor, but not as subtle. Hops blot out much of the light sugary notes. Nutmeg spiciness, smoky finish. Very well integrated alcohol. marcus (1853), Sacramento, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 23, 2009 This dark brown ale poured with a thick frothy tan head and a chocolate aroma. The flavor is rich and complex, with tastes of chocolate, coffee, multiple spices and bready yeast. It is a delicious dessert beer and should be drunk slowly, as the flavor changes continuously white the beer warms. blankboy (3204), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2009 My bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus & biegaman -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a very deep ruby-brown with an average size lasting frothy light-brown head. Aroma of lightly roasted dark malt, chocolate, coffee, light spices, fruit, light hops and more -- there’s lots going on here. Flavour’s roasty along with coffee, spices and chocolate. Roasty, bitter, alcoholic finish. Medium bodied. If I had to nitpick I’d say it’s a little too boozy (cellaring it for a few years wouldn’t hurt) but it’s a damn good beer as it is. cheeta (901), Langå, Denmark

Black body. Moderate bitter and very smoked flavor. Medium palate. Barrios (858), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
