BelgiskOlklub (397), Viby J, Denmark Feb 17, 2009 Bottle. Brown, black hazy body. Huge white lasting head. Spiced aroma, brown sugar and coffee. Sweet flavor but well balanced with a dry hoppy finish. Full body, sticky texture. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Feb 16, 2009 (Draught at Ölbaren, Copenhagen, 12 Feb 2009) Deep ruby red colour with a brief, brown head. Fruity, malty nose with cherries, dark fruit, caramel and marzipan. Malty, fruity taste with notes of marzipan, cherries, dark fruit, orange peel, spices and chocolate. More than medium body, rather vinous but still with a smooth mouthfeel and lovely balance. Very nice beer. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Feb 11, 2009 Bottle… Midnight-black ale with a small, fat-bubbled, off-white head. The aroma is of cocoa and vanilla with a hint of cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Leans mildly on the sweet side of balance. Chocolaty with some brett dryness and a rumor of cardboard-like oxidation. Finishes crisp, lightly sweet and then dry. Thanks to mgumby10 for providing the bottle! mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Feb 9, 2009 Pours dark brown/black, with a small frothy light brown head. Smells of dark nutty malts, light roast, and a bit of that cocoa powder. the flavor is pretty rich, lots of cocoa and spices, to go along with the malty roast and molasses. Light alcohol presence, masked quite proficiently. A little chalky, oaky flavor comes throgh in the finish. pretty interesting and solid brew here. SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Feb 9, 2009 Bottle: Poured a black with light brown head. Aroma is sweet with molasses, spice, and malt. Taste is rich malts with a sweet bubblegum finish. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA Feb 2, 2009 Bottle. Coffee, maple syrup, Starbuck’s coffee liquor, raspberry paste, light peppermint, cookie dough, dark fruits. Taste-pecans, unsweet chocolate powder, berries, a really great strain of yeast, medium to high sweetness, unsweet Fig Newtons, black berries. Damn good. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Feb 2, 2009 Poured from a 750ml corked and caged bottle and served in a tulip. This beer poured a muddy dark brown with a thin head of lasting tan foam. A small amount of spotty, slippery lace was left behind. The aroma included orange peel, cinammon, chocolate, dark fruits, and molasses. The flavor consisted of moderately spiced chocolate, caramel, molasses, and a lasting note of dried bittersweet orange peel. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and had light, moderately crisp carbonation. Pretty decent, but the orange peel and spices tend to wear on the palate towards the bottom of the glass. ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Jan 30, 2009 bottle thanks to bu11zeye. poured black with a tan head and some great legs. aroma of dark roasts, coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. flavor was amazing as well with dark roasts and alcohol. no carbonation in this brew. another great brew. thank you sir may i have another.
