COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

Mikkeller Christmas beer anno 2008. Santa’s Little Helper is a dark, strong Belgian ale, lightly spiced with sweet orange peel, coriander seeds, cinnamon and cocoa. This year’s version is recognized by less sweetness than the 2007 version, a fresh hop bite, balanced by the sweetness from the coriander and orange peel and a big bold body. Enjoy now or keep it in the cellar for many years to come.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale, special-B and chocolate), flaked wheat, dark candy syrup, dark cassonade, hops (northern brewer, hallertauer, styrian goldings and simcoe), spices (sweet orange peel, coriander seeds, cinnamon and cocoa) and yeast.

Bottle 75cl. @ home.
Clear dark brown color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, cacao, moderate hoppy, orange shell, wooden spunce, alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, and a dry dry finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syruy, carbonation is soft and smooth, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20081208]

75 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a dense light brown head. Aroma is spiced, complex yet with a clear annis seed note. Flavour is mild smoked and and roasted malty with a light spice note. Chocolate malty too. Light cinnamon on the back of the tongue. Lasting coriander and smooth chocolate finish. Light bitterness to a vague acidic note into the far finish. Main impression however is the chocolate smoothness and light complimenting spice notes.

Drunk to celebrate my rating number 12,400. A pitch black beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of alcohol as well as lighter notes of ginger, coriander, coffee, and cocoa. The flavor is sweet and very roasted and spicy - especially coriander, but also notes of alcohol and lighter notes of cocoa, leading to a dry cocoa and roasted finish. The alcohol is felt both on the tongue and palate, and lingers for a long time.

Opaque black brown beer, a few bubbles instead of a head. Smooth palate, low carbonation. Smooth lactose dark malt. Touch of wood with a mild whisky - bourbon. A little fruit - well buried. Mild warmth in the finish. Simple but effective!

Dark brown color. Mild aroma, alcohol, chocolate, dust, light sweat. Average body strength, but quite well structured, dry chocolate flavor, moderate sweetness, average spice presence (cinnamon); in the end the alcohol warms the tongue and there is some light vegetable trace. Not bad.
