375ml bottle

Pours dark brown with a medium foamy head. Aroma has notes of berries, red wine, caramel, spices and malts. Taste has quite strong notes of berries and red wine with hints of lingonberry, caramel malts, spices and wood. Finish is a bit sticky and sweet with notes of berries. Quite carbonated and full bodied. Quite nice and the red wine gives it a nice touch.

Bottle. Pours a murky brown with a fast-disappearing khaki head. Tart, oxidized, malty and dark fruit aroma, a bit spicy and with notes of raisins. Flavour is sweet and tart, oxidized, with notes of dark fruits, slight wooden notes and an alcohol burn. Dry, sweet finish with an alcohol burn as well. Aged well and the oxidization was nice. 05.11.11.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2012 Rerated 29. jan 2012. Pours a nice clear deep brown. Nose has caramel, raisin, vanilla and maybe ginger and cinnamon. Big taste sweet and round, but with some sour notes from the barrel. Alcohol is elegantly matching the big flavours of the spices. Full body, creamy, average carbonation, long elegant finish with lots of spice notes. Tastes differs with every sip. Could easily enjoy several of these.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of wood, vanilla, roasted malt, alcohol, and wine. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, wine, and alcohol, as well as a bit of vanilla, leading to a dry, roasted, and woody finish.

Süß-malziger, etwas klebriger Antrunk. Nun stärker malzig, wenig herb, eintönig. Fast milder als das Original, die Aromenvielfalt hält sich in Grenzen. Nichts Besonderes. /9/8/10/11/9

Bottle, 375ml. A clear, very dark reddish brown beer with a dense, finger-thick beige head. Quite vinous aroma with a berry-like sourness along with dried fruits, some alcohol and chocolate as well as piney hops. Full-bodied, with a good piney bitterness following a vinous, chocolatey flavor combined with sour berries. A nice beer indeed, but I prefer the unbarreled edition. 101229

Thanks to yespr for that one! Bottle looks really good, beer in the glass light brown, zippy, small head. Malty-alcoholic aroma. Starts strong, malty-dry, fruity, a bit burning. Finish a bit sourish, still warming-malty, a bit alcoholic. Very nice!
