Dark brown opaque beer, good mid - tan head. Light palate, semi dry and quite crisp. At first sip it comes across as a sour dark beer but as you adjust it’s quite a sweet barrel beer. Rum that is more than offset by tangy spices. Finish is dry and minerally spicy. More of a Christmas style beer than previous editions but ironically falls in to that trap of being a tad over spiced. Also it’s a bit dry but overall hard to dislike!

Bottle bought at Kihoskh in November 2012. Reddish/brown with a small head. Aroma and taste of alcohol, "white spirit", wood, some spices, malt and notes of fruit. A bit strange this one.

Pours a hazy and dark brown beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt, rum, alcohol, raisin and dried fruit. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is dry with sweetness and alcoholwarmth. Overall an average beer.

Bottle. Black with a creamy tan head. Wow. Big rum soaked raisin, chocolate, and fig aroma. Tastes of raisin, plum, and chocolate up front followed by rum and cola and finishing with dry oaky fig flavors. Nice thick semi creamy and semi oily palate. Very good overall.

Bottle at Big Beers and Barley Wines. My notes are just littered with the annotations: BARREL and rum, rum, rum....not my top beer of the tasting by any means.

First disappointing mikkeller beer I have had, it pours a dark browny, aroma is boozy and woody, the flavour is very harsh and not terribly smooth or drinkable, the finish was very boozy, almost barley wine like

01-SEP-2012, bottle @home, from Ølbutikken. Dark dark brown with tan head. Acetone aroma... Weird. Spice - anise. Malt and berry. Raisin, rosmary. High carbonation., tart. Strange. Nah! wrong.

Bottle. Pours a brown color with ruby highlights and a medium sized tan head. The aroma is a bit strange; there are some really nice things like rum, caramel, some spices, but it also has a big acetone component that is not pleasant. The flavor is more in line with what I would expect; caramel, rum, wood, dark fruits, chocolate, spices, overall not bad.
