375 ml. bottle sampled @ 18th Christmasbeer festival in Essen // side-by-side with the Speyside version. Brownish black, head is only a rim of mocha on the sides. Smell is sweet, vinous, sugar, mocha, boozy & crazy amounts of wood. Taste is sweet white wine, glue, white berries & grapes, lots & lots of wood, chocolate, some bitter charcoal, milk chocolate, creamy, more wood. Very low ratings before I entered my score 47/19 but I find this one quite lovely and interesting. Bit sticky, slightly lighter carb. body.

Sampled at OBER Kerstbierfestival 2012. Pitch black opaque colored beer with a small brown head on top. Smell and taste malts, a lot of barrel ageing, sharp and winey with a touch of wood. Maybe a bit overdone, but nevertheless I quite like it. A bit sharply carbonated with a medium body.
