Appearance: The beer is dark foggy brown, has a very high tan head that settles slowly leaving loads of lacing and good curtains.
Taste: Starts sweet with dark syrup, burnt crust, figs and raisins, citric zest and seeds.
Palate: Medium carbonation, smooth and sticky, big body anda good smooth dryness.
Overall: In all a potent and good winter ale.

McNeillR (2168) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 3, 2015
Murky dark brown. Soft ringed light tan head. Thick ground spice, sweet and vibrant roast. Initial taste is creamy, lean spice and very smooth sweetness. Soft carbonation but the booze is hidden incredibly well. Nice soft choc and lean coppery bitterness on the finish. Linger is surprisingly light, clean tea like richness.

From the very old notes, hence this is not a real rating, but more just a mark to myself that I have tried this at one point. Very nice sweet and boozy, roasty, and spicy brew.

Aroma and flavor of biscuit, spice and yeast. Good color and weighty palate. This had some age on it so there was a drop in the carbonation; however, it held up fairly well.

Bottle. This one really mellowed out after a few years. Poured a hazy brown color with a small fluffy head. Aroma was sweet malts, some lingering spices still remain. Light roast. Sweetness, like toffee, with a little booze lingering.
