Bottle. Very dark brown with a light brown head leaving lacing. Aroma: roasted, fruity, a bit musty, some spices. Taste: malty, dried fruits, yeast, light spices, sweet, some milk chocolate, burnt brown sugar. Full bodied, medium high carbonation. From memory, I would say this year was my least favourite so far.

Draft @ Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty spicy chocolate and caramel aroma. Roasted malty spicy caramel flavor with weak hints of orange. Has a roasted malty spicy chocolate and caramel finish.

Funky aroma of yeast, mustard and apricots. Deep crimson/magenta color with a large tan foam. Thick texture with flavors of molasses, candied caramel, sugared fruits and belgian candi sugar. Some toasted toffee, ginger, cinnamon and cocoa is present on the finish. Overall, this is a very interesting take on a Belgian strong. Very sweet and sugary with very well masked alcohol.

Bottle on Christmas day. Pours Black with a beige head. Hearty aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and booze. The flavour is classic Belgian yeast with a nice malty sweetness and a little bit of background spice. Berries and prunes. Very smooth considering the alcohol content. I found this beer to be elegant and probably the best of the day.

750 ml Bottle from Yamaichi. Chocolatey, spicy nose, licorice, light coffee, berries, apple, alcohol fumes. Interesting and strange. Black with a low, thick, bubbly tan  head. Rich, malty, sweet. Chocolate, coffee, cream, licorice, spices, apple pie, blackberry jam. Rich and tasty, dessert-like. Much like a Belgian Imperial stout. Over the top and very tasty, though very sweet and lots of spice.

On draught at Roscoe’s. Distinct apple juice smell. Chocolate, apple, and spice flavor notes. Not hoppy.

On tap. Big malt character guides the spice payload to my palate. Chocolate caught me off guard but blends nicely with the other flavors. This stuff ages well, so sit on a bottle for ~2 years if you've got extras.

On draught at World Of Beer. This brew pours a dark reddish-brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, raisins, chocolate and yeast. The finish is fruity with a yeast aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Pours ruby-tinted black with a dark tan head. Nose shows doughy bready malt, sultanas, golden syrup, fruitcake, and faint chocolate. Flavours comprised of booze, bready malt, soft roasted malt, treacle. The alcohol is a bit harsh. Thick creamy body. Could use more carbonation.
