Draft. Dark brownish maroon color, nice dark brown head, solid lacing. Aroma os slightly medicinal coffee. Taste is coffee spiked with a schnapps of some sort. Muvh tastier than the aroma would suggest.

Tap @ FairBar. Almost black with medium beige head. Aroma is malt, dark fruits, yeast, plume and candy sugar. Flavour is malt, dark fruits, yeast, plume, candy sugar, chocolate, medium sweet, hop and a little bitter.

Pungent hoppy aroma, very raw - seems like it might appreciate some ageing, lots of orange peel. Quite different in the taste, this one is ready to drink now, unlike previous SLHs I’ve had young, despite the clues the aroma gave. Nice rich roasty body. Smooth palate, nice carbonation. Mellow roasty finish. Look forward to trying one with a little bit of age on it too. 6-12 months would be good, I guess.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Black beer with a small brownish head. Malty chocolate aroma, caramel, spices, some chilli, syrup, orange peels, citrus, cocoa powder, licorice, coriander, citrus, wheat, raisins, toffee notes. Malty syrup flavor, spices, chocolate, licorice, vinous, some tar, dry hops, floral, orange peels, earthy notes, toffee, some leather and some sweet licorice. Good stuff!

Tap @ Fairbar, Aarhus. Almost black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, dark malts, caramel, dark sugar, dried fruit and light spicy. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 071112

Dark brown to black color, brown head. Sweet, rubber, chocolate scent. Sweet, sugary, grains, spicy, salt licorice taste. Warming alcohol. Medium to thin mouthfeel, medium grainy bitterness. Salt licorice aftertaste.

On draught at World Of Beer. This brew pours a dark reddish-brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, raisins, chocolate and yeast. The finish is fruity with a yeast aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Draft. Blackish beer with a brown head. Toffee and spice aroma. Toffee and spice flavor with light chocolate. Medium-plus bodied. Toffee and light spice lingers with light chooclate.

Bottle at Kingcecils Birthday Tasting. Pours dark brown almost black with a medium dark beige head. The aroma is lots of ripe fruit, caramel, yeast, light oranges and light chocolate. The flavour is ripe fruit, yeast, caramel and spices. Lots of things going on.

Bottle sample @ 18de Kerstbierfestival, Essen 2012.
Brune foncée, mousse moka laissant un léger filament huileux doré au verre.
Arôme est assez fleuri et houblonné; citronné et agrumes, le tout étant bien alterné par un bouquet généreux de malts.
Palais est malté, pain d’épices tirant fortement sur le torréfié et café et en fin de bouche une certaine fraîcheur houblonnée et une pointe de réglisse.
