Pours dark red brown with a nut brown head. Smell is belgian caramel malts and pretty roasted too. Taste has got banana, plums, marzipan and madeire wine. The taste hides the high alcohol pretty well. It has got some christmas-spices to it. Fairly smooth, but somehow a little.. thin? *Might be a little drunk rating*

Bottle. Roasted, kind of bitter aroma. Very deep, dark amber color with a lasting, creamy head. Quite roasted flavor as well, with hints of dark fruits. Quite sweet. Not as good as last year. Will probably improve with some age on it.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have some roasted malt, chocolate, almost nutty character with hints of fruit and spices. Good body, no sign of the 11%.

On tap. Keg is simply labeled "santas little helper", but it arrived straight from the distributors importer this season, so I’m assuming what I have is the 2013 version. Tastes reasonably fresh. Almost entirely hazy dark red brown color. Thin khaki head, leaves good dots of bits of lace. Very nice chocolate aroma, some winter spice. Bigger body, smooth lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Good moderate bitter taste, lighter sweet, light warmth in the finish, and moderate spice. Drinks easy for an 11% beer. Very good belgian strong christmas ale, one of the better ones I’ve tried.
