On tap at Hill Farmstead’s 1st anniversary celebration. Uber rich and dark imperial stout with waves and waves of chocolates of all sorts of varieties. Massively thick palate with low carbonation- superb.

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark roasted coffee/espresso, and chocolate. Flavour is largely of good quality dark chocolate with lots of espresso in there too, complimented beautifully but the roasted malts. Full bodied and beautifully luxurious!

On tap at HF first anniversary.
Appearance : Deep black with a small head.
Aroma : Lots of hops and roasted malt with a light acidity. Light licorice and molasses.
Taste : Roasted malt with great hops. Great roasty finish with great resinous hops and coffee. Light smoke. Light alcohol. Finish is rather dry.
Overall : Well done IS. Nice balance, really nice hops and nice malt. I liked it a lot but it was not as good as Genealogy.

750mL growler, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks Dany!), split with Matts_Property, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and espresso - pretty standard but rich. Flavour of rich chocolate malt, lots of roasted notes and some espresso. Thick and full-bodied. Nothing unique but done exceptionally well. Very warm and satisfying.

On Tap at Hill Farmstead Tap Takeover at Positive Pie in Plainfield. $8 for an 8 ounce pour.

A - One finger head of gigantic bubbles. Coffee color and the bubbles fade very slowly. Nice lacing left over. Beer is Midnight black but doesn’t pour very viscous. Pours smooth.

S - Scent is very subdued. This beer is almost 2 years old. Big coffee notes, smokiness and a big chocolate profile. chocolate syrup and some pepper.

T - OH YEAH! The taste is a chocolate syrup bomb. Very high mocha chocolate flavor and a huge malt backbone. Very sweet and crisp finish with a lingering almond like bitterness.

M - 50/50 carbonation on the mouth swish. Heavy body and a long lingering dark cocoa taste.

O - Consider the age of this brew and its history, the 1st Anniversary Hill Farmstead beer from Mikkeller to Shaun is drinking great and tastes amazing. I’d love a bottle of this but knowing this was the only time I’d get to try it makes me yearn for more even more so. This was a delicious beer.

Pours a black colour with a dark brown head. Aroma of sweet dried fruits, roasted malts and caramel. Flavour of roasted malts, milk coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and toffee. Full bodied with a dry, roasty, fruity finish. Nice one.
