Flaske. Sort øl med et lille coca-cola skum. Fin karbonering og en fantastisk duft af Sherry, nødder og en smule. Smagen er en tand for bitter og alkohol domineret i forhold til duften, men lækker lækker øl.

Black with a brown head. The aroma is of sherry, oak and coffee. Very nicely balanced with the sherry. The flavor is also full of sherry, but also oak, coffee and caramel. Great beer.

Bottle, thanks to Papsoe. As soon as you pop the bottle the wine and sherry flavors waft out in a wide radius, delighting anyone near by. Big sweet coffee and cherry, not especially complex but rather wonderful. Kind of a complete sensory overload, this reminds me of when I drank my first Imperial Stout, a Storm King in early ’05. That’s saying a lot, considering how few beers affect me like that anymore. Well done.

Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Dark brown dense head. Sweetness, roast, chocolate and distinct notes of sherry in the aroma. Flavour of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol and cocoa. Is a bit dusty and dry. Full bodied. Chocolate, roasty bitterness and alcoholwarmth in the end. Surprisingly well balanced. Nice one.

On tap @ EBF 2008. Totally black body with a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, wood and chocolate. Flavor is sweet, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, hops and warming alcohol. I must agree I have a little problem to sort out all this heavy Imperial Stouts from Mikkeller reading my festival notes, but they are all great, I promise.

Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [120908]

On tap at the European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. It pours a black body under a layer of tan bubbles. Alcohol, coffee, chocolate and sweetness in the aroma. There’s a lot of sweetness in the mouth, as well as chocolate and coffee, and it lasts for a long time. Full-bodied and warming. A demanding, well-tasting beer that would be perfect for an hour of sipping by the fire. (080912)
