2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 omhper (17472) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 15, 2008
Draught at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Properly named regarding the appearance. Medicinal nose. Salty and dense. Very powerful with tar and vanilla. Quiite boozy and the medicinal flavour never really goes away. Compact and full bodied. The sweetness is too intense for me and the finish turns inky. I much preferred Black as Coal to this one.

It pours black as Hell, with a medium-sized brown head. Aroma of chocolate malt, wood, alcohol, very light cardboard; nice but less intense than the Black as Coal. The mouthfeel is well round, quite smooth, with a strong chocolate and roasted malt flavor, liquorice, salty, and more sour than the Black as Coal. Balanced and salty final. Very good, but missing some vibe, compared to the other version..
