"Citrus peel and a little spice seem to be the dominant players in this particular single Hopper from Mikkeller. I like it. Probably middle if the road or so for the series, but nice."

Interesting hop aroma - enjoying trying the single hop beers. Chinook has more of a pine and perfume profile than the citrus that I love. Decent IPA, watery mouthfeel and I can see why Chinook is most often paired with other hops and not usually featured solo.

It's delicious of course. It's Mikkeller it's chinook how do you think this is going to go? Yes it's earthy warm cinnamon without the cinnamon flavor. Yes it can be the only beer you drink. But it won't.

Net zoals de andere van mikkeller die ik al geprobeerd heb een bier met een heel uitgesproken smaak, maar absoluut mijn ding niet.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle. Hazy, orangey-pinkish, golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Hoppy aroma with perfumed touch, notes of pine and grapefruit. Taste is bitter hoppy, peppery spicy, caramel malty, piney, grapefruit notes, some apricot; crispy bitter, minimally biting, intense. Very harmonious integration of malt sweetness and hop flavours.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle pours a light brownish orange color with a 2 finger white head that settles to reveal some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is light citrus and pine with some grainy notes. Taste is a pine and grapefruit hop bitterness with a grainy malty sweetness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A pretty decent and well crafted IPA. Recommended.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nicely orange coloured, hazy, creamy slightly off-white head. Just tasted the Cascade Single hop and this one is a little les big on aroma and taste: tropical fruity, grassy, just a little bitterness and some caramel/honey sweetness from the malts. Body’s a bit watery/more refreshing than the Cascade, medium carbonation, creamy soft mouthfeel.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap @ Beer Temple (taster size). Red/amber color, hazy. Off white, good lacing. Aroma’s: fruity hops (citrus?), light malty sweetness. Retronasal I get citrus, herbal hops, light sourness, light malty sweetness. Flavor is moderate bitter with a light malty sweet backbone. Medium bodied. Finishes with a lovely firm bitter finish. I came to the conclusion long ago, and this reconfirms: Mikkeller is the king of IPA’s.
