Amber with an off-white head.
Nice and hoppy, lots of citrus fruits, caramel, hints of butter, not very bitter. Very drinkable.

Bottle at home. Dark murky orange, massive foamy white head. Nose is big tropical fruits, some funky orange peel, resinous, thick hops. Wow. Slight sweet front followed by a smooth perfume bitterness. Long dry finish. Nice, not harsh but brilliantly hoppy.

Bottle. Orange with white head. Lovely grapefruit, passionfruit, citrus vibe to it with. Just the right ammount of malt. Very yeasty. Probably my fault for pouring the dregs in. Oops. Manageable bitterness on the finish. Well rounded and delicious.

Picked this up for $3.49 at Hunger Mountain Co-Op. Brewed 8-23-2012. Enjoyed in a White wine glass.
A - Very dark brown, lots of clouds and hop sediment. Was this not filtered? 2 finger slight tan head. Fades very slowly!
S - Well...it smells like citra. Nice grapefruit and citrus scents. Hint of darker malts.
T - Extremely bitter, very malty almost like a baby version of "I hardcore you". Nice sweetness at the end and a lot of citrus and grapefruit bitterness.
M - The insane amount of hop sediment is a huge turn off on the mouth feel. Medium body. Malty like a Double IPA but bitterer like a standard IPA. So weird.
O - Not a fan. Bummer.

On tap, rated from backlog. Nose is fresh and hoppy with orange and lemon, pine, hints of bread and orange peel. Taste is malty and sweet with orange and lemon zest, caramel, bread, pine, grass and resin.

Citra pours out a dark orangey amber with a thick and dense yellowish beige head. tons of lacing on the glass. The nose I well hopped and pungent with a big acidic and citric aroma. Some sweetness and light caramel grains in the middle with a big grapefruit and lemon rind hop. A bit of caramelly goodness and some pine notes. Citra is a hop I’m
not very acquainted with, but this is pretty damn good. Overall, nice fruits and good bitterness but not a great resinous quality. Fantastic IPA!

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2012 (Bottled)Vibrant nose rises in HD from the tulip...superb tangerine and apricot fumes . Really classy and vivid ; white/beige twin color above firery orange . I can see on my tounge waves of peppery alcohol holding hands with orange colored fruits doing their thing nicely .

Supremely cloudy orange-red color. Completely opaque, only light can shine through. Good head retention, nice swath of lace. Looks nearly perfect.
Very bitter citrus aroma, with a strong, earthy malt to balance it. Spicy, almost to the point of polished wood. I won’t lie: the nose in this intimidates me a little bit.
The taste is amazingly bitter grapefruit and citrus, but with a touch of earthy malt. The balance is rather amazing: just when it seems the hop is going to dominate, the malt backbone comes in to dull it. And just when the malt gets too soil-like, the hop adds a little zing of citrus.
Feels thick, viscous, juicy, and sandpapery. Really rough on the tongue, but appropriately so.
This is a challenging beer; it feels a lot stronger than its 6.9% would indicate. This one is an all-nighter if you want it to be. Complex, hefty, juicy and bursting with flavors.

Bottle from Asahiya. Solid caramel aroma, along with some fumes. Dark copper-orange color, with a one-finger creamy head. Caramel and pine resin initial / balanced mid / good malty sweetness. Medium body. Good enough. Citra doesn’t come through as much as I’d like. A bit too sweet, really.

De Bierkoning, Amszterdam.
Igen ködös, ragyogó narancssárga színe van, mint a lemenő napnak. Habja hófehér, nagyon tömör, hatalmas, kemény, mint a kő és egy triatlonista kitartásával rendelkezik. Még ezen a habpáncélon is simán áttör ez a brutál gyümölcsös, ananászos, mandarinos, édeskés és fenyőrügyes illat. Íze hozza az illat alapján elvártakat, nagyon citrusos, ananászos, kecskecsöcsű szőlős, édeskés, ami hirtelen fordul át egy nyelvcsavaró keserűségbe és mintha egy friss rügyekkel teli borókafenyő ágat rágcsálnánk. Könnyű teste van és apró buborékokkal rendelkezik, amit nem túloztak el benne. Utóíze keserédes, vérnarancsos és a legvége nagyon száraz, de marad benne egy kis édeskésség is. Azt hiszem , hogy megtaláltam az egyik kedvenc komlómat. Viva la Citra!
