2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
In short: A muddy yeasty fruity amber IPA lacking in many departments. Lame.
How: Bottle 330ml, from a new batch that landed in Vermont and consumed a few days after it hit the shelves, however fresh a Mikkeller IPA can be in Vermont.
The look: Muddy amber body topped by a medium beige head with mediu retention.
In long: Nose is phenolic, some tropical fruits, other yeasty fruit esters, quite a bit soapy and even perfumy (rose water). This is far from what I’ve been used from Citra IPAs that are legions in North-America. Taste is far from clean and crisp. Very yeasty and with grainy toasted cereals, like croutons in a yeast soup. Fruity flavors are like breakfast juice made from extract of citrus fruits and apples. Some resin, green plants, a medicine round-up the flavor spectrum. Full body but strangely lacking malt presence, just a thick yeasty body with the sweetness feeling more like fruit concentrate than usual cereals sweetness. An overall lack of freshness in the character of the beer although this batch being was freshly delivered. Mild bitterness with a finish that adds lemony citric notes. Medium carbonation and muddy mouthfeel. Very lame, I hope this was a bad batch, I’m rarely disappointed by a Mikkeller beer like I was by this one. Just another beer rating for me, my 5000+ ratings are my main accomplishment in my life, I feel like my contribution to this world we live in is as remarkable as the contribution of the letter ‘w’ in the word ‘answer’.

Bottle, camping in France. Hazy orange pour, thin creamy white head. Aroma of fruity hops, citrus, some pine and a bit grainy. Flavor is quite bitter, fruity and clean. Smooth texture. Nice balance.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at home. New batch. Poured a cloudy dark orange colour with big white head. Nose of tangerine sweetness. Caramel, fresh mango flesh, citrus, peaches, and zest. Lot’s of apricot en stone fruits in the taste wich is quite impressive. Not as hoppy as you would expect. But boy this is fruity and juicy. Very Nice

Tap at j Ryan’s. Pours completely murky pale orange, limited head lots of lacing. Nose is a grapefruit and tropical fruit explosion. Flavours of grapefruit, pine pineapple maybe mango. Taste medium bitter light sweet. Full sticky body lively carbonation. Ugly but tasty.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma of bready malt, strong floral notes, citrus, tropical fruit notes, hint of soap, hops. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a moderate to medium bitter finish. More malty/floral than the hoppy/fruity beer I expected. Still a pretty good and well-balanced IPA.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear orange color, nice longlasting off-white head. Unfortunately not a very fresh bottle - aroma is hoppy and slightly sweet and fruity, but otherwise not much going on. Hoppy taste with a decent kick of bitterness in the end - maybe a slight tropical fruit sensation.
