Bottle pours an amber color with a thick foamy white head. Smells hop and grapefruit. Taste is very bitter with a sweet balance of the malt at the end. Medium body. Really great beer.

11.2 oz bottle.late December 2010. Pours a hazy orange color with a small off-white head. The aroma and flavor has orange citrus, sweet caramel and doughy malts, earthy hops, with herbal notes. Light/medium bodied with a moderate bitterness to the finish. A little better than many of these, maybe it was just fresher.

Hazed golden orange, eggshell white head leaves lasting ring. Big earthy vinious burnt grapefruit and berry Nelson nose. Initial taste is softer than I expected, juicy peach/pear sweetness before an engorged berry bitterness. This swing just adds to the quench. Firm carbonation does the job. Finish is a clean stamp of passionfruit before a cooling grapefruit linger. Fuck the ABV, fuck the fact this is probably been in the fridge for six months. Tremendous Nelson party.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2014 Tap at Ölhus Stockholm, Helsinki. Pours amber with a medium-sized head that leaves lacing. Aroma of strong exotic fruitiness, floral notes, currant and berries - rich and hoppy, in an original way. Taste is crisp, rich and very fruity. Bitterness is moderate to heavy but not brutal, the balance is excellent. The palate is medium bodied and slick. Very rich and very drinkable IPA.

Amber koper kleurig bier. Schuimkraag witte die snel verdwijnt. Smaak fruitig met een licht drop smaak met een droge na smaak. Geur citrus hoppig gedronken met Bryan

Draught. Pours hazy orange in color with a creamy off-white head. Lots of creami ripe tropical fruits, apricots and mango atleast are the upfront in aroma. Smooth, so smooth mouthfeel. Lots of those tropical ripe fruits in taste as well. Light grapefruity bitterness too.

33cl bottle sampled courtesy of bastarda, danke! Pours a standard Mikkeller Single Hop copper-hued orange, with thick-pored white foam. Earthier sweetish aromas of canned grape, apricot, pear and gooseberry set the stage for a subtle orchestration of malt vs. hop fruitiness in the taste. The dry and caramel malt base swallows some of the strawberry and grape juice Sauvin notes. No off notes or abv presence whatsoever = prime IPA engineering with the most subtle of exotic single hops.

Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Mildly hazy amber orange color. Thin ring of off-white head. Some ropes and bits of lace. Caramel malt up front in the nose. Kind of malty, caramely, and sweet. Hardly get any nelson sauvin at all from this. Who knows how old it is, but it doesn’t taste fresh (not terribly surprised). Light spicy, tropical fruit hop notes, but mostly just caramel malt and burnt sugars. Moderate sweet taste, lightly spicy. Moderate bitter. Medium-plus body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick, light dry in the finish. OK kind of malty stronger pale ale, even though it’s hard to get much nelson sauvin character from it. As it is now, it’s not bad. Just not the single-hop showcase it’s meant to be.

Backlog. On tap at Green Lion Inn. Probably the best one in the single-hop series and one of my favourite IPAs all-time.
