3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pretty familiar with nelson sauvin, given exposure to kiwi beers. But certainly a unique hop variety, regardless of where your from. Pours orange/amber with a huge off white head. Lighter than both siomcoe & warrior iíd had prior. Nose has masses of tropical fruit: mango & passionfruit dominate, with herbacious/grassy hop undertones. Palate follows suite, huge tropical fruit notes that border on sweet. Mouthfeel is a little light compared to the other single hop ipas. Finishes with grassy/herbacious & slightly spicy hop bitterness. Overall, great display of the variety, but probably not ideally suited to an IPA.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy amber color, good cloudy head. Lots of typical Nelson Sauvin character in the nose: tropical fruits, especially kiwi-fruity. Flavor has kiwi and mango, but also a bit too much yeast for my liking. Single hops are interesting, Nelson Sauvin is a great hop, but this one has a bit poor drinkability.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a massive off white/orange head. As I anticipated itís nothing less than that beautiful Nelson Sauvin hop aroma...grapes, gooseberry, grapefruit and pine notes. It really is a sensational hop and Mikkeller has showcased this one tremendously. The flavour is juicy fruity hops. Thereís not as much bitterness as Iíd expected. This is pretty smooth on the palate with a slight dryness in the finish. A bloody good IPA...Iíd be happy to drink this by the pint no worries.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl bottle. Pours with a crazy-big off-white yellowish rocky head. The beer is cloudy orange with touches of ruddy red. The head consists of biggish bubbles which leave lots of lace. The aroma is funky with resiny pine sap and grapefruit. Subtle sour citrus and light acidic white grape, grass, and hewn pinewood. Subtle astringency in there, too. The flavor starts hoppy with funky Belgian esters - fruity and slightly medicinal. It is grassy and very grapefruity with mild bready malt character and moderate malt sweetness. Funkiness declines as palate acclimates - gets tastier and tastier as you drink it. Subtle earthy and floral qualities complement the bitter citrus, funky lighter esters, and malt sweetness at mid-palate. The finish is dry with light breadiness and strong grassy bitterness - all with a pleasantly sweet undercurrent. The mouthfeel is medium-full and creamy with surprisingly only a moderate spritziness from the CO2. Overall, this was an interesting and tasty IPA and an intriguing hop variety.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2009 330ml bottle. I CAN NOT WAIT TO DIVE INTO THIS ONE!!! FACEFIRST INTO A BILLOW OF NELSON SAUVIN FOAM!!! Pours just like the other single hops, glowing orange amber with a tall foamy off-white thick frothy head. Sweet juicy nelson sauvin aroma, very grapey, little cat piss, fantastic! I LOVE THIS HOP! MMMM bitter spicy grape juice, actually fairly sweet which really brings out the juiciness, mangos, cantaloupe, honeydew, white wine, some grapefruit, just lovely!!! Medium bodied with smooth medium sized sizzling carbonation, foamy mouth-feel. 184.108.40.206.17

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A 0.33L bottle tasted at Kaisla. Slightly black current in the nose. Pale large head. Clear coppery colour (before adding sediment). Soft fruity taste. Not too sweet. Adding sediment makes hazy. Soft taste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared with Sparky27...thanks Eric!!! Burnt orange color with a small off-white head that quickly diminished to nothing. Ample carbonation...a bit prickly, even. All citrus, not a ton of pine. Medium mouthfeel. Interesting to try many of the hop varieties next to one another.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Caponeís bottle shop, excited about this, because I love me some nelson hops. Not super cold but cold enough. Pours rich orange with a big foamy tan head. Nose is sweet and super super citrus which is what I like. Taste is sweet, rich, lots of citrus, and very good. Not like Nelson from Alpine though.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam, consumed at Kemmel campsite, Belgium, 09-06-09 Had this in the Mikkeller Single Hop tasting with Nelson Sauvin, Warrior, Simcoe and Cascade all up for the taste off. This poured hazy amber which really was the case for all of them. Touch of perfume followed by tropical fruits, quite excellent. Glorious tasting, wonderful interplay between exotic fruitiness and sweetness, nice soft mouthfeel. There is a subdued bitterness, its a superb beer, totally sexy. Its like a little taste of a caribbean cocktail for some reason, stunner. A9 A4 F9 P4 Ov18 4.4

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
copper with a huge rocky, whipped off-white head. monstrous wet, juicy, fruity hop aroma. lots of citrus(sweet mandarin orange syrup) but a bit floral as well. peachy citrus orange with some spiciness in the flavor. also a good bit of caramel malt for balance. tangy sweet tart. grape bubble gum. medium bodied and no harsh bitter bite in finish. i would love to sample all the single hops together someday. sounds like a good tasting experiment.
