Man. Smells awesome. Pine and citrus, all in one hop. Extremely well balanced. Tastes like a perfect IPA. Not too much of this or that. I’ll drink the hell out of this glass. The hops are great, the overall balance of the flavor is what gets it high ranks. I won’t go as far to say it’s better than Alpine’s Nelson, but it’s in a different league. Tasty. Should have bought more of these.

33cl bottle sampled courtesy of bastarda, danke! Pours a standard Mikkeller Single Hop copper-hued orange, with thick-pored white foam. Earthier sweetish aromas of canned grape, apricot, pear and gooseberry set the stage for a subtle orchestration of malt vs. hop fruitiness in the taste. The dry and caramel malt base swallows some of the strawberry and grape juice Sauvin notes. No off notes or abv presence whatsoever = prime IPA engineering with the most subtle of exotic single hops.

Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Mildly hazy amber orange color. Thin ring of off-white head. Some ropes and bits of lace. Caramel malt up front in the nose. Kind of malty, caramely, and sweet. Hardly get any nelson sauvin at all from this. Who knows how old it is, but it doesn’t taste fresh (not terribly surprised). Light spicy, tropical fruit hop notes, but mostly just caramel malt and burnt sugars. Moderate sweet taste, lightly spicy. Moderate bitter. Medium-plus body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick, light dry in the finish. OK kind of malty stronger pale ale, even though it’s hard to get much nelson sauvin character from it. As it is now, it’s not bad. Just not the single-hop showcase it’s meant to be.

Backlog. On tap at Green Lion Inn. Probably the best one in the single-hop series and one of my favourite IPAs all-time.

A smooth well balanced lemony, hoppy joy to drink. Good lasting head & grapefruit flavour. Rated by BrewTom

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy amber colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Cautious caramel malty aroma, slightly metallic, minerally hoppy overtones, a touch of gooseberry and juniper berry. Taste is bitter hoppy, minimally fruity, minimally piney, way overcarbonated. Must be something wrong with this, maybe contaminated, inadequately stored or misleadingly labeled - if not a case of counterfeiting or plagiarising of merchandise [BBE 03/09/15].

Dobra robota mikkellera w belgii z single hopem. Tu mamy doczynienia z jednym z moich ulubionych chmieli. Nelsonem z NZ. Piwo jest zywiczne w smaku lekko syropowate, ciemnego bursztynu. W smaku jeszcze jakby splesnialy rozowy grejfrut. Piana spora i trwala. Aromatyczne i pijalne piwo. Choc nie lubie tego okreslenia, ale tu bardzo pasuje. Swietnie pasowalo do potrawy. Bardzo dobry Single Hop. Polecam

Thanks to Reimer96 for this. Pours cloudy dark gold with a big pillowy off white head. Aroma is big tropical fruit and pine hops. Taste is a nice easy tropical and slight pine hop bitterness with the sweetness balance of the malt. Super nice.

Bottle to IPA glass Aroma of tropical fruit, grapefruit, pepper, and pine. Clear amber, frothy off white head, lots of lacing. Taste is light tropical fruit, heavy pine, grapefruit, and overall, very bitter.
