Label on photo is wrong. The first in a new series of single hop IPAs from Mikkeller. Brewed with Simcoe, known from many great US micro-brews. An extremely fresh-hopped IPA.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pilsner, cara-crystal and munich), hops (simcoe) and yeast.

33cl bottle sampled courtesy of bastarda, danke! Pours brownish orange, like caramellised orange peel (label mentions use of oats). Long time since I have smelled an IPA so brightly shining with actual fresh pink grapefruit, both zest and flesh. Glorious aroma helped along by a decent carbonation, well integrated by a solid malt base and more than just functional ale yeast, imparting extra malt fruity notes, with some caramel. No simcoe off-notes at all, hops must have been harvested/steeped very fresh. Taste is therefore more down-to-earth and solid than its spectacular nose, but up to the pleasant finish this remains a well-rounded IPA with a confident Northern European "down-to-earth" character.

amber coloured beer with a big, off-white head. The aroma is very intensive, like mango, pine and citrus, it’s also earthy. The taste is sweet then bitter. It’s also biscuit-like. The finish is long and dry.

So my friend told me about this new style of beer called Ipa, figured I’d check it out. Bottle. Hazy deep amber white head. Nose is pine, papaya, pineapple, garlic, tobacco. Doesn’t veer into hop petrol territory. Flavour-wise it blends toward citrus with a bit of onion. I like the choice of malts for this, clean but not flakey, there’s still a punch. Good choice for displaying a hop. Demisec finish.

Pours a cloudy copper with a large creamy off white head and good lace. Aroma is pine, fruity, apricot, kinda woodsy, and a mild malty backbone. Flavour is pine, fruity, apricot, light citrus, malty, woodsy, a medium bitterness, and a medium dry finish.

330ml from Bow Bar Edinburgh smell s like a Pina Colada which I find outrageous and I’m considering how to emulate this!
