3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 haukur (1009) - Reykjavik, ICELAND - MAY 6, 2013
Trademark Simcoe IPA. Really fruity, with exotic fruits. Nice bitterness, excellent example of the style and the hop.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 RABinVA (684) - Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA - MAY 4, 2013
Bottle into a danish pour. Pours amber with a slight off-white head. A lot of sediment. Sweet sugary pine aroma. Taste is heavily pine with a lot of bitterness on the back and a heavy malt backbone. Fairly palate-searing. A lot of heat builds as it sits on the tongue. A nice dry finish though, which is what I love in an IPA.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Marduk (1266) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAY 2, 2013
330ml bottle. Clear orange color. Tiny head, stays. Sweet, fruity, strawberries, raspberries in aroma. Quite pleasant. Sweet fruity, hops in flavor. Quite watery and very short aftertaste. Adding yeasty crap (bottom of the bottle), doesn’t make any difference.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 suurjuust (605) - ESTONIA - MAY 1, 2013
Somewhat cloudy amber orange with lasting off-white head. Grassy, citric-spicy-hoppy nose. Taste is caramel, bready malts, hop notes with oranges, pine resin, grapefruit and some soft sweetness. The finish is more of aforementioned fruits with hoppy bitterness and a fair amount of dryness. Medium body, smooth carbonation, dry palate. Nice balance, very drinkable and fresh.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 thirstyrabbit (719) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 27, 2013
Small bottle. Dark orange body with a tall head. Aroma has fresh piney hops. Oily mouthfeel with piney Simcoe hops. Smooth finish. Well balanced IPA - not overly resinous or thin. Nice.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Senka (117) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 27, 2013
33cl bottle. Fresh brew. Strong orange zest aroma. Plenty of honey and of course hops. Cereal malt and faint cellar yeast breath. Pale orange, pours slightly hazy with beautiful creamy head. Dash of sweet malt and immediately after that crazy hoppy explosion. Pure bitterness, but nothing outrageous like 1000IBU brews. Full bodied for an IPA. Dry and rugged, but slick at the same time. Average fizz. Finish is >10 min. long with sophisticated hoppy palate. Brewed for hop freaks. Pure enjoyment.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 williamherbert (1121) - Syracuse, New York, USA - APR 24, 2013
Aroma is orange peel and mild tangerine. Spicy and citrusy. Earthy backbone.
The appearance is a healthy head, thick orange color.
The flavor is bitter grapefruit, with a touch of berry. Very earthy malt finish. The balance is harsh flavors.
Feels gritty and prickly on the palate. Overall, they try so hard to do it American style. But it’s so beyond bitter that it’s hard to repeat.
