3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
IBU rating for this would be 100 and its something like a very sweet red grapefruit for the smell and it’s crust for taste , meaning candyland for the nose vs. punishing the tongue by not giving it candy, thus having bittercandy instead. Proper simcoe as it is.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Keg at BD Shep Bush. Super fresh and super tasty. Oddly malty for a mikkeller ipa but the fruit just rides it out and keeps on ridin’. Grapefruits on holiday in the tropics with tangerine jousting with marmalade. Top.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Orange cloudy colour, ok head on top which dissolves quite fast. Aroma is really nice, there is tropical fruits, citrus and lemon and some mango. Taste is quite bitter, with sweet fruits and citrus. Medium body with medium carbonation. Simcoe is a nice hop variety, but single hop IPAs are rarely past the ’nice beer’ point.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Cloudy, copper colour. Thick, bubbly, dense on top, lasting, cream coloured head. Bitter orange. Fusty, overripe mandarin. Some mineral. I do like Simcoe, but I’m not sure I’d have clocked it in this if I didn’t know. Drinks fresh, light, soft sweet, with a little resin bitterness. Towards the end, the bitterness rises, and lingers. Lacks the skunky hop I expected, but it’s still pretty good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle from Brewdog online shop. Pours clear golden amber, long-lasting white head. Aromas of tropical fruit, pineapple, lemon end of citrus, light pine. Taste has a good malt backbone to match the orange bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, full-mouth bitterness coating at the end. Just the ticket!
