3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A bit off the mark overall. Sorachi Ace pours out a dark amberish orange with a thick yellow tinged head a finger or two thick. The foamy head dies slowly leaving a few sticky spots of lacing. Aroma is sweet and a bit sticky and sweaty with some lemon rind, light spice and light resin. The first sip is lightly malted with sweet lemon and grapefruit notes. An infringing Sorachi ace lemony spice almost like lemon Pledge on the finish and well into the aftertaste. This just tastes weird...and I usually love Sorachi Ace hops. This is just a bit off throughout.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium chestnut, with a very large off-white head, which lasts very well and leaves excellent lacing. Typical Sorachi Ace notes are prominent in the aroma, especially bubblegum, plum and cherry, backed by faint caramel malt. Strong, bitter hops up front offer very much the same tastes as aromas. Cherry is especially prominent to begin, but it softens a little into more of a plum flavour. Sweet, bubblegum-like notes herald a nice, smooth caramel malt body, which blends nicely with the plum. More bubblegum and some black cherry create a pleasant aftertaste. I am a huge fan of single hop IPAs: using the same base with each hop really highlights their individual flavours, much like a single-variety wine. I enjoyed BrewDog’s IPA is Dead series very much, and I was hence delighted to discover Mikkeller doing the same thing. This is ever so slightly better than BrewDog’s Sorachi Ace IPA from that series, which is high praise. It’s nicely bitter, but with those sweet, fruity flavours to round it out; a lovely beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Mogwai. Helsingborg, December 2011.
Sweet and fruity aroma of herbs, dill and caramel. Refreshing light body with grass and a nice bitterness. Showcases the Sorachi Hop in a good way. Very drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
AROMA: floral hop nose with hints of lemon and some musky blanket
APPEARANCE: cloudy copper with a massive tan head that laces and stays forever
TASTE: A very interesting combination of sweet and hops here, even vanilla and British beer cyclamate type flavours Also a lemon note and a hint of icing sugar. Quite complex, yet surprising flavours in an IPA
PALATE: Medium bodies with a lively carbonation and a slickness on the tongue. Hop finish is gentle, yet very present
OVERALL: an interesting beer with very different characteristics to your normal IPA. Grainy and soapy on top of all the flavours so far described. Wonderful complexity.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle. Lots of foam, beige coloured and well packed together. Deep amber colour with musky perfume aroma. The flavour is somewhat musky and lingering taste on the palate. Very different from the rest of the single hop series beers.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 6/10/2013, at William K Kurvi, 20120309) The beer poured deep amber and hazy. Its head was quite large, long lasting and white. Aroma had coconut, herbalness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were coconut, herbalness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was mildly sweet with medium bitterness. I have to realise again that Sorachi Ace is not my thing.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nice looking brew hazy copper body with a stupidly long lasting 2" creamy cap. Subtle aroma.......WOW!!! VBS is correct I smell coconut why do I smell coconut?!?!? Flowers, sweet malts, cabbage patch dolls...The aroma is odd yet pleasant but nothing I would look for in an IPA. Taste also is loaded with coconut and fake air freshener, not good, not bad, nothing I want in an IPA. A mild but heavy bitter shows up in the finish. Kind of lemon but not really with a big earthy character. Very unique beer I will never want again.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Amber orange brew with a medium sized light tan head that produces lots of lacing. The aroma is bizarre. Dried coconuts and watermelon candy. What the fuck is that about? Coconut on warm bread. Try as I might I can’t pick up much more than that. The flavour is similar - very similar but there is also an earthy bite, almost pine, lemon, herb, biscuit. Very bizarre indeed. Highly carbonated and heavily bittered. Long finish. Very cool unique beer that only needs one purchase.
