3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 KansaiBeerLvrs (236) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 18, 2013
A bottle drunk at a Single Hop IPA tasting I organized. The Summit IPA had a pine and musty aroma with a decent clean bitterness. I liked it on it’s own but was a bit one dimensional.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 maekchu (1093) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAY 18, 2013
Bottle from Asahiya. Solid malty nose with piney hops, rounded and full. Dark amber color, beige head. Sweet malty initial, very thick / good balance in mid / final brings up the hops in a gentle manner. Medium body. Seems too rich and full for an IPA. More like a baby barley wine. Very smooth and tasty.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 highlandlad (1376) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - MAR 27, 2013
One of the weaker links in Mikkeller’s single-hop chain of IPAs. I can’t claim great familiarity with Summit, but from this it appears to need other hops to soften its herbal character. Not that this is a bad beer - Mikkeller can make a silk purse out of any sow’s ear. Lovely-looking: bright copper with a thick, creamy head. Inviting summery aroma: canned peaches, passionfruit, candied oranges. Full, slick mouthfeel. Starts well on the tongue but falls away in the mid-palate before a chewy, resinous finish. Nice walnut and toffee caramalt notes. Marred by a heavy herbal astringency in the after-taste. A lot to like here but that finish meant I found it challenging to finish the bottle. (33cl bottle from Leura Cellars. BB 6/10/13)
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Marduk (1266) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - FEB 17, 2013
330ml bottle. Hazy, dark yellow color. Small off-white head. Sweet, toffee, gingerbread dough in aroma. Sweet, nutty, grapefruit in taste. Nice nutty mouthfeel. Very enjoyable.

330ml bottle (BB Brevinga, Riga)
Spicy sweet aroma. Crisp palate. Amazingly simple body, but I love the nutty roast. The odd thing about this is that it’s trying to show off a single hop and yet this works because it doesn’t actually jump out in any direction. Very drinkable, so nutty - walnutty. Super drinkable, super super drinkable.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 spacecube (348) - Leeds, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 11, 2013
330ml bottle, pours clear amber with a nice sized head, nice sweet citrussy nose, in the aroma there’s caramel malt, balanced with orange citrus flavours and piney, resiny hop notes. The carbonation is lively. The finish is bitter and crisp. Nice
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 javiercrasher (79) - Granada, SPAIN - FEB 8, 2013
Cobriza, oscura, turbia.
Consistente espuma que no se pierde y queda pegada al vaso.
Aroma herbal.
Buen cuerpo, resinosa.
En boca picante, bastante amarga, y un final astringente.

26th November 2011 Cloudy darkish amber beer with a big fluffy off white head. Crispy palate. Creamy malt with has distinct pale malt and caramel streaks. Sweet tangerines and a little lemon and lime. It’s almost sherbet like. A little orange marmalade in the finish. A sweet IPA but a great showcase for the hop.
