3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 2, 2011 Goleden orange with decent head. Great hop aroma...sharper than the cascade (which I tried before this). The aroma pops out, very floral with apple, alcohol, and malt tones. This beer is dryer and more subtle with earthy hop tones. It’s a bit lighter than expected, could use a bit more malt balance. The flavor hints at being sweet at the very start then it dies off a bit.

"115 ibus. fairly strong floral aroma, crisp body. pretty agressive and bitter on the flavor...not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it’s odd to have single hop brews from 33 ibus to well over 100. "

Coppery taste. Very bitter. Like double trouble but less floral. Not my favorite in the series.

Of the Mikkeller single hop IPAs I tasted, one of the less interesting ones (though still good) - probably tied with the Citra for least favourite amongst the five I tasted. Smells very bitter and piney with some cheesiness. Tastes very bitter without much else going on - could be more balanced. Body is nice,
crisp and dry.

Cloudy orange with a big off-white head. Hoppy aroma, of grass, herbs, pine and grapefruit peel. There is a bit of malt sweetness, but grassy hop flavour and bitterness dominates. Full bodied

Pours a cloudy amber with a medium beige lasting head with good lacing. ( Bottle dated 10/12/10 ) Aroma of yeast, dark fruit and caramel malt. Taste is sweet caramel malt, Belgian yeast, some bready notes, caramel malt with hops bitterness on the end for balance. a medium body, smooth with moderate carbonation. This brew is more on the malty side for an IPA, seems to be bottle conditioned as well. Still a good flavorful brew.

Tap @ the taphouse. Enjoyed the beer but the aroma was just a little down on a top class ipa. Always interesting to compare how the different hops taste though.
